About Clara AI

Clara AI is building an AI-native operating system for the field-service industry across Fire, HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing. We are building AI agents and workflows that fundamentally change how these businesses operate, from answering calls and collections to field operations and technician assistance.

We are looking for an Engineering Lead in Bengaluru who can help build and scale the engineering organization as we enter the next phase of growth.

The Role

This is a senior, hands-on engineering leadership role for someone who can operate across 0→1 product building, technical architecture, engineering execution, and team building.

You will work closely with the founders and product leadership to:

Own the technical direction and architecture for key Clara products
Build and lead a high-performing engineering team
Drive products from idea to production with speed and high ownership
Establish engineering standards, processes, and development practices
Make pragmatic technical decisions in a fast-moving startup environment
Work closely with Product, Design, and Business teams
Mentor engineers and develop future technical leaders
Solve complex problems across AI, backend systems, integrations, scalability, and reliability
Balance speed of execution with long-term technical quality
What We Are Looking For
8+ years of engineering experience, with meaningful leadership experience
Experience as an Engineering Lead, Head of Engineering, Founding Engineer, CTO, Co-founder, or similar senior technical role
Strong hands-on engineering background
Experience building products from 0→1 and scaling them 1→10
Strong system design and architecture fundamentals
Experience building and managing engineering teams
Strong product sense and ability to translate business problems into technical solutions
Comfortable working with ambiguity and taking end-to-end ownership
Strong interest in AI-native product development and modern engineering practices
Experience in a startup or high-growth environment is strongly preferred
Founder / Co-founder Background

We are particularly interested in ex-founders or co-founders who have built products and engineering teams themselves and understand the realities of operating with limited resources, high ownership, and aggressive execution timelines.
