  • Creating installation wire lists and interconnection requirements
  • Leading internal and external electrical design reviews
  • Designing electrical systems for demanding environments, including full wash-down applications
  • Supporting panel suppliers and in-house electrical technicians
  • Preparing control system costing and technical proposals
  • Working closely with vendors, Sales, Applications Engineering and customers to develop the optimum automation solution
  • Developing functional specifications, equipment manuals and training documentation
  • Engineering pneumatic systems to meet application requirements
  • Collaborating with Mechanical Engineering on the positioning and mounting of field devices and sensors
  • Mentoring junior engineers and helping develop their technical capability and independence.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced electrical engineering professional with a strong background in industrial automation and automated machinery.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Automation or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
  • 5+ years' experience within manufacturing, automation or a related technical environment
  • 3+ years' experience designing control panels, electrical schematics and wire-run lists
  • 3+ years' experience with EPLAN, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent electrical design software
  • Experience designing and selecting panels and components for logic control, motion control, monitoring and machine safety
  • Experience working with turnkey industrial machinery or automated systems
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical and machinery standards, including CE, IEC, NEC, NFPA, UL and TUV
  • A strong understanding of machinery and electrical safety standards
  • Excellent analytical, diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities
  • The ability to visualize an automation system from initial concept through development
  • Strong planning, organizational and decision-making skills
  • The communication skills to work effectively with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10-15%, occasionally for periods of one to two weeks.

Desirable

  • A BS in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience working for an OEM or machine builder
