REcollab is the first-ever networking and collaboration platform designed exclusively for the real estate industry. Every deal in real estate requires a rotating cast of varying professionals and coordinators all working in confluence and yet every product in the industry was built for one professional working alone.

Our vision is to unify professional networking, collaboration tools, and a purpose-built CRM into a single integrated platform that should have been built decades ago for one of the most foundational pillars of the American economy. We believe that by equipping professionals with the essential tools they actually need to broadcast their businesses and get transactions done securely, we will empower them to not only expand into new networks, but also operationalize their current ones in a more effective way than they ever have before. We intend to redefine the way professionals connect, collaborate, and close while simultaneously preserving the privacy and best interests of their clients.

WHERE WE ARE

REcollab is pre-funding. We're building our founding team now so that development begins immediately when our raise closes rather than months later. Candidates we select will receive a written contingent offer, specifying salary, equity, and start date, effective upon close of our funding round. We're being upfront about this because we want people who are energized by building something from the ground floor, and because we'd rather you evaluate that honestly now than discover it later.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Backend Database Engineer is a database professional who facilitates how data is structured, stored, secured, and retrieved at scale. This person cares deeply about correctness and performance, enjoys untangling complex data relationships, and takes ownership of the data layer end to end. This individual has a strong resolve, excellent communication ability, the initiative to solve problems in a fast-paced startup environment, and is a positive highly-collaborative influence within our lean and motivated engineering team.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues, and is capable of wearing many hats.

REQUIRED SKILLS - TECHNICAL

Below is a summary of the technology skills we need, ordered from highest to lowest priority:

MongoDB/NoSQL | WorkOS | GIS | AWS S3 | Spring Boot

For each item below, please be prepared to explain how much of the work you personally performed and in what setting.

• Deep familiarity building and optimizing data models and storage in MongoDB / NoSQL databases, and working knowledge of geographical information systems.
• Strong command supporting backend services that are built in Spring Boot/Java with reliable, performant data access.
• Experience mandating correct use of datatypes and proper data placement throughout commercial systems
• Hands-on experience implementing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and writing robust and secure systems that survive the scrutiny of enterprise confidentiality requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS - PERSONAL

• Clear written and verbal communication in the English language
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
• Attention to detail and pride in clean, maintainable work
• Self-motivated; works well independently and on a team, capable of collaborating with other engineers and stakeholders on shared technical projects
• Capable of wearing many hats

IDEAL CANDIDATE WOULD ALSO HAVE

• Database performance tuning and indexing expertise
• Experience with data migration and schema evolution
• Experience designing systems from the ground up
• The willingness to relocate to Chattanooga, TN
