Position Overview
Information Security & Network Engineer – Evolve Blue LLC. Evolve Blue is a technology consulting and IT staffing firm delivering cybersecurity, cloud, software engineering, and IT infrastructure services to enterprise and public-sector organizations. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Information Security & Network Engineer to support a large K–12 technology environment in Allentown, PA. This full-time, onsite contract-to-hire role is focused on securing and operating enterprise networks, endpoint defenses, virtualization, backup/recovery, and incident response in a regulated educational setting.

Key Responsibilities
Design, configure, and maintain secure enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routing, switching and network segmentation policies.
Deploy, manage and tune enterprise firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and threat prevention systems to protect K–12 environments against malware, ransomware, and phishing attacks.
Operate and administer SIEM, EDR, and antivirus solutions to monitor network and endpoint telemetry, investigate alerts, and perform incident response activities.
Perform vulnerability assessments, coordinate remediation with infrastructure teams, and track risk reduction for critical systems and applications.
Administer Windows Server environments and virtualized infrastructure (VMware/Hyper-V), including patching, configuration hardening and troubleshooting.
Manage enterprise backup and recovery platforms (Veeam, Cohesity, Rubrik, Commvault or equivalent) to ensure reliable data protection and recovery readiness.
Configure and support enterprise wireless solutions (Cisco and Aruba), ensuring secure authentication, segmentation, and performance for students and staff.
Provide technical guidance and documentation for IT staff on security best practices, network changes, and incident postmortems to improve operational maturity.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of hands-on IT, networking, infrastructure, or cybersecurity experience supporting enterprise environments.
Proven experience with Cisco Catalyst routing and switching and strong LAN/WAN design/troubleshooting skills.
Hands-on experience with enterprise firewall technologies; Fortinet/FortiGate experience strongly preferred.
Experience administering Windows Server (2019/2022) and virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
Practical experience with network security controls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and threat prevention tools.
Familiarity with SIEM and EDR technologies and conducting investigations, log analysis, and incident response workflows.
Experience supporting enterprise wireless networks (Cisco, Aruba) and integrating wireless with security policies.
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with IT leadership and operational teams.
Ability to successfully complete Pennsylvania criminal background and child-abuse clearances required for K–12 access.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Security+, Fortinet NSE, or comparable networking/security credentials.
Experience with Palo Alto Networks, Cisco ASA/Firepower, or Check Point firewalls.
Familiarity with enterprise backup platforms such as Veeam, Cohesity, Rubrik, or Commvault and disaster recovery planning.
Prior experience working in K–12, government, healthcare, or other regulated environments and knowledge of FERPA, CIPA, or related data privacy requirements.
Experience with automation, scripting (PowerShell, Python) or infrastructure-as-code to accelerate repeatable security and network tasks.
