Business Development Representative (BDR)
Company: ORCAVX MEDIA — Video Post-Production Services
Industry: Video Editing & Post-Production / Creative Services Agency
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full-time, Individual Contributor (Quota-Carrying)
Reports To: Sales Team Lead
Works With: Editors, Account Managers, Sales Team Lead
About ORCAVX MEDIA
ORCAVX MEDIA is a video post-production agency . We turn raw footage into polished, on-brand video content across long format, short format and thumbnail designing through our individual packages and retainer programmes.
Role Overview
As a Business Development Representative (BDR), you will be the first point of contact between the agency and a prospective client. Your primary responsibility is to prospect, qualify, and engage leads across our four target verticals, run outbound outreach and inbound qualification, and move a cold or warm lead to a booked discovery call or a closed retainer.
This is a revenue-facing role. Success is measured by pipeline generated and deals closed — activity (outreach volume, follow-up discipline) is the leading indicator we track weekly.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospecting — build and work a logged list of leads across the four target verticals using the agency's documented sourcing methods (see Raw Client References doc).
- Outreach — run outbound via email, LinkedIn, calls, and DMs, tailored to each vertical's pain points.
- Pitching & positioning — quote and pitch strictly from the Services & Details and Brochure documents so every quote matches published pricing and package scope.
- Pipeline management — keep accurate, up-to-date CRM records of every touchpoint so no lead goes cold from a missed follow-up.
- Discovery calls — run a short qualification call to confirm fit with a prospect's format, deliverables, and turnaround expectations before handing off to an Account Manager or Editor.
- Objection handling — answer client questions on packages, add-ons, and pricing directly; escalate only pricing exceptions to the Sales Team Lead.
- Closing — convert a warm lead into a signed Pod, Apex, or Megalodon retainer, or an individual package for one-off projects.
- Handoff — deliver a clean handoff to the Account Manager/Editor team with a clear brief once a deal is signed.
What This Role Is NOT Responsible For
- Actual video editing, thumbnail design, or any post-production work — owned by the Editor team.
- Setting or changing package pricing — pricing lives in Final_Pricings.xlsx and is owned by the Sales Team Lead.
- Long-term account management once a client is onboarded — that transitions to an Account Manager.
Deliverables — What This Role Produces
- Logged and worked list of new prospects across the four target verticals.
- Consistent outbound touches (calls, emails, LinkedIn/DM messages) — volume agreed with the Sales Team Lead.
- Booked discovery calls with qualified prospects.
- Signed retainer or package agreements.
- Accurate, current pipeline records — every lead's stage, next action, and notes visible to the team.
- Clean handoff briefs for every closed deal so production can start without back-and-forth.
Performance Metrics (Guideline)
- Daily Quota: 60 net-new verified leads added to the centralized database. 60 personalized touchpoints dispatched (25 emails, 20 LinkedIn actions, 15 direct calls or localized WhatsApp messages).
- Weekly Quota: 250+ verified leads prospected. 2 to 3 introductory strategy calls booked on the calendar.
- Monthly Quota: 10+ qualified introductory calls completed. Minimum of 3 closed monthly retainer clients across Pod (999/mo),Apex(1,899/mo), or Megalodon ($2,399/mo) plans.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in outbound sales, business development, or agency new-business — video/creative services background is a plus.
- Comfortable with high-volume outreach and follow-up discipline.
- Strong written and verbal communication — able to explain a technical service (video editing) in terms a non-technical buyer (a doctor or lawyer) immediately understands.
- Organised — keeps a pipeline current without being chased.
- Graduate in any discipline; 0–3 years' experience depending on level hired for.
Compensation & Employment Terms (Indian Standards)
- Employment Type — Engaged under an Independent Contractor or Commission-Only Full-Time arrangement as per mutual agreement and applicable legal norms.
- Commission Structure — 20% commission on the total revenue generated from every successfully closed lead.
Devices Required and Internet Connection
- Reliable, high-speed internet connection (minimum 20 Mbps) is mandatory for seamless communication and tool access.
- A functional laptop or desktop with a working microphone, camera, and updated operating system.
- A dedicated, quiet workspace free from background noise for client calls and meetings.
Proficiency in using essential communication tools like Slack, Google Workspace, and CRM platforms.
