Forward Deployed Engineer

Company Description Moxo is an AI workflow automation platform that powers complex, multi-step business processes by orchestrating work between humans and AI agents. Its AI agents manage operational tasks such as preparing documents, validating submissions, extracting data, routing work, and tracking overdue items, while people focus on judgment-based decisions and approvals. Teams can design workflows in plain language and build self-learning AI agents with Agent Foundry or integrate their own, enabling robust flows that handle branches, exceptions, and escalations. Internal teams, clients, vendors, and partners collaborate through branded, account-free portals, allowing processes like client onboarding and vendor compliance to run end-to-end without delays.

The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is a full-time role based in Orange County, California.

You’ll work directly with prospects & customers to understand how their business operates, identify where Moxo can make a meaningful difference, and turn those ideas into working processes.

This is a hands-on role at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer delivery. One day you might be mapping a complex business process with a customer, the next configuring a workflow, building an integration, working with APIs, or helping launch a new AI-powered use case.

You won’t simply hand requirements back to another team. You’ll stay close to the problem, build alongside the customer, and help make sure what we deliver actually achieves the business outcome they came to Moxo for.

What we’re looking for

• Build things that work in the real world. You have strong software engineering fundamentals and are comfortable designing, building, debugging, and shipping production-ready solutions.
• Love working with customers. You’re comfortable getting into a room with business and technical stakeholders, asking the right questions, and turning an ambiguous problem into something concrete.
• Own the outcome. You don’t think your job ends when something is configured or deployed. You stay involved through testing, launch, adoption, and iteration to make sure the customer succeeds.
• Connect systems together. You’re comfortable working with APIs, integrations, data, authentication, and the enterprise systems that sit around a customer’s workflow.
• Turn complexity into something simple. You can take a messy business process, understand what really matters, and design a solution that customers can actually use.
• Move comfortably between technical and business conversations. You can go deep with an engineering team and then explain the same solution clearly to a business leader.
• Learn quickly and share what you learn. Forward Deployed Engineering means encountering new industries, systems, and problems constantly. You’ll help document patterns, share lessons with the wider team, and make the next deployment better than the last.
• Stay close to what’s happening in AI. Take a genuine interest in new developments across AI and applied AI, and keep learning so you can bring fresh ideas and informed guidance to our customers.
• Bring 1-4 years of relevant experience. We’re looking for someone early in their career who already has a strong foundation in software engineering, customer-facing technical work, or building and deploying solutions.
• Travel as needed. This role includes regular customer travel. While we plan ahead whenever possible, customer needs can move quickly, and occasionally travel may come together on short notice.
• Help the team ramp. As the team grows, you may occasionally help newer team members get up to speed by sharing context, experience, and what’s working in the field.
