About the job

Account Executive

DBGorilla · Remote (US) · Full-time

About the role

We're hiring our first Account Executive.

You'll report directly to the CEO and work side by side with our two co-founders to build pipeline, run deals, shape our go-to-market approach, and drive opportunities from first conversation to closed deal.

This is a great fit for someone early in their sales career who wants real equity ownership, direct access to leadership and the product team, and uncapped earning potential.

As our first sales hire, you'll help shape how DBGorilla sells, influence the product roadmap based on what you're hearing from customers, and have a clear path to Senior AE or sales leadership as the team grows.

You'll have real equity ownership, uncapped commission, and the opportunity to grow with the company.

About DBGorilla

DBGorilla is an AI database agent for Postgres and MySQL, with support for more databases coming soon. It keeps databases fast, reliable, and cost-efficient.

DBGorilla continuously analyzes databases to find slow queries, missing indexes, configuration problems, and other issues holding them back. It tests fixes on a safe clone of the real database before recommending them, so teams get proof instead of guesses.

Developers can also ask DBGorilla about queries, schema, and migrations directly from their IDE or coding agent, including Claude Code and Cursor. DBGorilla reviews pull requests to catch risky database changes before they reach production.

DBGorilla is available as SaaS or on-prem, and we work alongside partners including NetApp Instaclustr.

Who you'll sell to

  • Our buyers are technical: Engineering leaders, platform and infrastructure leads, DBAs, developers and CTOs at companies running Postgres or MySQL.

  • Where deals come from: Most opportunities come from inbound interest, partners, conferences, trials, and our existing network. You'll also help create opportunities through targeted outreach and social selling.

  • How deals run: Some deals move quickly with engineering teams that immediately understand the problem. Others involve larger organizations with security reviews, procurement, and multiple stakeholders.

What you'll do

  • Develop and keep your pipeline moving. Every opportunity has a clear next step and a date, and HubSpot always reflects reality.

  • Run discovery calls and qualify quickly, so your time goes to the teams that are ready to buy.

  • Lead the commercial side of demos alongside our co-founders.

  • Manage every deal from first call through proposal, negotiation and close.

  • Guide customers through security reviews and procurement, with support from the co-founders.

  • Follow up with warm accounts, trial users and conference contacts to create new opportunities.

  • Build relationships with engineering leaders on social platforms. Social selling is a real channel for us.

  • Share what you hear from customers with Product and help shape our sales playbook as we learn what works.

  • Work with the founders on marketing campaigns, events and partner outreach that create new sales opportunities.

  • Help write social posts, outreach emails and sales materials using the questions and problems you hear from buyers.

  • Help refine our messaging and track which marketing activities lead to qualified conversations.

What you'll bring

  • 1–5 years of B2B sales experience. SDR or BDR experience counts, but you should have some closing experience or a clear track record of beating your targets.
  • Comfort managing multiple opportunities at once, with disciplined follow-up.
  • Confidence talking with technical buyers such as engineering managers, platform leads, DBAs, and CTOs.
  • Clear, direct written communication.
  • Experience using AI tools for account research, call preparation, follow-up, or other parts of your sales workflow.
  • Curiosity about the technical side. You don't need to be an engineer, but you'll learn enough about databases, query performance, and developer workflows to hold credible conversations.
  • A competitive drive. We want someone who aims to beat their number, not just hit it.
  • An interest in marketing and a willingness to help plan campaigns, write content, and get it in front of potential buyers.
  • Comfort working on a small team where you'll help generate demand as well as manage and close deals.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to developer tools, databases, cloud or infrastructure software.
  • Startup experience.
  • HubSpot and Apollo experience.
  • Linkedin and social media experience.

Compensation & benefits

  • Base salary: $50,000–$60,000
  • On-target earnings: $100,000–$120,000 (base + uncapped commission), with accelerators above quota
  • Equity: stock options, so you share in the value you help build
  • Benefits: health coverage, flexible paid time off, and a laptop and technical tools you need to do your best work

Location
Remote, US or Canada based. Occasional travel for conferences and customer meetings.
DBGorilla is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds.
