McLane is building a cloud-native lakehouse on Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery) as the single source of truth for analytics and AI/ML across a supply chain business managing 50,000+ SKUs for the nation's leading retailers and restaurants. We're hiring a Senior Director, Data Engineering & Analytics to lead that build end to end architecture, migration, governance, and team.

This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office at least three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX or Austin, TX.

What You’ll Do

• Own the data platform roadmap — architect and lead the migration from legacy on-prem warehousing to a modern GCP/BigQuery lakehouse.
• Build a governed BI architecture in Looker with a certified semantic layer and conversational, self-service analytics.
• Bring AI copilots and agentic automation into the engineering practice to raise velocity and reliability.
• Build the AI/ML data foundation — ML-ready datasets and feature engineering — partnering with data science to scale production models.
• Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing data engineering and analytics organization.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems.
• 10+ years in data engineering or architecture, including 6+ years leading enterprise data platform teams.
• Deep hands-on expertise with cloud data platforms (GCP/BigQuery preferred; Azure, AWS, Snowflake, or Databricks).
• A track record shipping a cloud data lakehouse or modern data platform at enterprise scale.
• Experience with modern BI/semantic layers (Looker or Power BI) and governed self-service reporting.
• Strong DataOps fundamentals and a history of leading legacy-to-cloud migrations with executive-level communication.
