The role

You will join as one of the first engineers and build features across our platform: backend services, the web consoles customers and our operations team use every day, and the integrations that connect us to their existing systems. This is a mid-level role (L4 equivalent) on the founding team. You own features end to end, from a scoped plan through production, and you work closely with a Staff engineer who sets technical direction for the pod.

What you will do

• Build backend services in TypeScript/Node or Python: multi-tenant data model (organizations, locations, roles), a task and workflow engine with state, assignment, and deadlines, and reporting and export.
• Build and extend the web consoles (React and TypeScript) used by customers and our internal operations team, on an existing design system.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas and write the migrations, queries, and background jobs behind them.
• Ship integrations with third-party systems through REST APIs, webhooks, and OAuth, with idempotency, retries, and audit trails.
• Contribute to the media ingestion and processing pipeline and to real-time updates between the platform and clients.
• Treat tenant isolation, role-based access, and audit logging as required properties of everything you ship, and cover them with tests.
• Participate in code review, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and the on-call rotation, and write up incidents you are involved in.
• Work with product and the Staff engineer to turn scoped requirements into shipped work on a weekly cadence.

What we need

• 3+ years building and operating production web software, with meaningful time on both the backend and the front end.
• Backend fundamentals: TypeScript/Node or Python services, PostgreSQL schema design, queues and background jobs, containers, and at least one cloud provider (GCP or AWS).
• Front-end competence in React and TypeScript, including data-heavy interfaces such as tables, filters, and forms.
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs and handling the failure modes that come with them.
• Working knowledge of multi-tenancy, RBAC, and secrets management, and the habit of thinking about them without being reminded.
• You write tests, read logs, and debug production issues on your own.
• Clear written communication and comfort in a largely asynchronous team spanning US and India time zones.
• Based in or willing to relocate to the Fremont area; this role is on-site.

Nice to have

• Event-driven architectures, WebSockets, or real-time systems.
• PDF and spreadsheet report generation.
• Media or file-upload pipelines, especially large files under unreliable networks.
• Exposure to React Native or another cross-platform mobile framework.
• Experience integrating ML or vision-model outputs into product flows.
• Early-stage experience at a company with fewer than twenty engineers.

• Small team, direct access to the founder, and customers you will meet in your first weeks.
• Written design docs before large builds, a weekly shipping cadence, and a bias to fixing root causes.

Compensation

• This is a founding-team package: below-market cash, meaningful ownership.
• Salary: $60,000 to $80,000.
• Equity: 0.25% to 1.0% as a founding team member, with standard four-year vesting.
• Health insurance: 100% of premiums paid by the company.
