About the job

Intermoor, Acteon's Moorings and Anchors business line, provides project and operational management expertise to customers across the mooring lifecycle. By combining operational knowledge of mooring equipment, anchor handling and industry failure modes with subsea engineering expertise, we create a company unmatched within the mooring niche. This approach mitigates risks in delivery, installation and operations across the lifecycle, reducing mooring lifecycle costs and safeguarding major operations that protect start-up schedules when mooring and mooring intervention are on the project or production critical path.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Project Controller in Houston. The Senior Project Cost Controller manages project financial control, forecasting, reporting, and commercial support from setup through closeout. The role works with Project Management, Finance, Procurement, Operations, and Engineering to provide clear visibility of cost, revenue, cash flow, margin, commitments, and financial risk. This position focuses on project cost and commercial performance.

Duties

  • Own the day-to-day financial control of assigned projects from setup through final reconciliation and closeout
  • Establish and maintain approved project budgets, cost coding structures, forecasts, and cost reports in coordination with Project Management and Finance
  • Monitor actual costs, commitments, accruals, revenue, cash flow, and forecast-to-complete; identify variances, trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Provide accurate, timely financial information and practical recommendations to support project decisions and protect project margin
  • Support project teams with change control, invoicing inputs, month-end reporting, and audit-ready cost records
  • Set up project budgets, cost codes, and reporting structures in the ERP and cost-control tools.
  • Prepare cost-to-complete and estimate-at-completion forecasts against actual, committed, and budgeted costs.
  • Monitor contingency, cash flow, and forecast margin; escalate material deviations and recommend action.
  • Maintain visibility of contract value, billing milestones, revenue forecasts, unbilled amounts, and project cash position in coordination with Finance.
  • Quantify and track the cost and revenue impact of scope changes, variations, and additional work; confirm related costs are captured for approval and invoicing.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad hoc cost reports, forecasts, dashboards, and financial updates for assigned projects.
  • Participate in project reviews and month-end close activities, including accruals, revenue recognition inputs, forecast updates, and management reporting.
  • Maintain complete, traceable, and audit-ready project cost records consistent with company procedures, client requirements, and applicable controls.
  • Support internal and external audits and project closeout, including final cost, commitment, invoice, accrual, and revenue reconciliation.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline. Equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience in project cost control, project accounting, cost engineering, project controls, or a similar role.
  • Experience supporting engineering, offshore, marine construction, fabrication, energy, or EPC projects is preferred.
  • Experience with project forecasting, month-end close, invoicing support, change control, audit records, and final project reconciliation is preferred.
  • AACE Certified Cost Professional (CCP), PMP, or equivalent certification is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to maintain cost models, analyze large datasets, identify financial risk, and recommend action.
  • Ability to translate financial information into practical guidance for non-financial stakeholders.
  • High accuracy, organization, discretion, and follow-through across multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Working knowledge of earned value and cost/schedule integration is preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, PivotTables, data validation, charts, and financial modeling.
  • Power Query for importing, combining, cleansing, reconciling, and refreshing cost data; Power Pivot or VBA preferred.
  • Power BI or comparable dashboard development experience preferred.
  • Business Central/Navision or comparable ERP experience; familiarity with CRM and project reporting systems.
  • Microsoft 365, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 knowledge preferred for interpreting schedule and progress data
