Sun IP simplifies intellectual property management for law firms and corporate IP teams around the world. All of that work runs on software we build ourselves. Our platform serves two audiences: the Sun IP team delivering IP services, and the clients who rely on them. It makes translations, filings and renewals easier to manage. The goal is one intuitive platform for all of it.

New Jersey is home to our software and technical leadership and to the junior developers and product owners we are growing into the company's next leaders. We are an in-house team of more than fifty technologists.

We are seeking recent graduates aspiring to build a career in software development to join our dynamic team. This role will focus on backend development in Java.

This role is designed to be a growth path for our future leaders. Most of the technology leaders on our team today joined us as new graduates and grew into the roles they now hold, and we are hiring for this position with that same trajectory in mind. You will be paired with experienced mentors to grow your technical and professional skills. We invest in people for the long term, and we promote from within.

This is a hybrid role with the expectation that team members must work two (2) days per week in our office located in Ocean City, NJ.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet the business requirements of our global clients.
• Use AI-assisted development tools as part of your daily workflow, and apply human judgment to review, test, and validate their output before it reaches our clients.
• Grow your scope over time, from features to projects to guiding others, with mentorship from senior engineers and leaders who started where you are starting.

Required Technical Skills:

• Java
• Spring Framework
• SQL and JPA
• Spring boot
• Test-driven development experience using Mockito, Spring Boot testing, and Junit
• Git
• Integrating applications with a REST API
• Understanding of JSON

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Good written and oral communication with the ability to understand and coherently explain technical concepts and solutions.
• Good team player, can work Independently and a trustworthy individual with a commitment to excellent work ethics.
• Quality focused and detail oriented.
• Curiosity about AI and an eagerness to learn how to apply it responsibly and effectively to software development.
• Ambition to grow into technical leadership over time, along with a willingness to learn our clients’ business and the legal services domain.
