About the job
DTCo Associate Creative Directors drive excellence in DTC advertisement creative quality, concept development, and seamless delivery of creative assets.
You will play a crucial role in developing and delivering creative for our performance marketing campaigns across Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Reddit, and more. You’ll own the creative process from concept through briefing, production, and final delivery; partnering closely with Account teams and Editors to translate performance insights, client strategy, and audience understanding into compelling, conversion-focused creative. A core responsibility of this role is developing concepts and turning them into clear, actionable creative briefs for static, video, animation, and UGC.
The ideal candidate feels at home in design and editing software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, CapCut), experience in AI generation for paid social creative, has incredible communication and project management skills, and is engaged in the DTC digital world with an eye for “what works.”
This role reports to a Senior Strategy Director. Associate Creative Directors work in close partnership with Account team members within their pod and manage a team of Video Editors.
Responsibilities
Creative Management:
- Own the creative direction and development of assigned client accounts, overseeing the development and execution of static, video, animation, and UGC creative.
- Translate concepts into clear, actionable creative briefs that provide Editors with the strategic and creative direction needed to execute effectively.
- Work closely with Editors and Account team members to ensure that briefs are received with appropriate detail for immediate action. Resolve blockers cross-functionally with a growth mindset.
- Set and maintain the creative vision and quality bar for the account, ensuring creative output is strategically aligned, compelling, and built to perform.
Execution & Production:
Internal Productions:
- Own the concepting and briefing process for assigned creative, ensuring every concept has a clear hypothesis, audience, angle, hook, format, and executional direction.
- Own briefing for Editors, ensuring clarity, strategic rationale, actionable direction, appropriate assets, references, copy, and executional details across static, animation, UGC, and video creative through final delivery.
UGC Productions:
- Own end-to-end UGC production, including creator sourcing, casting, contracting, product coordination, briefing, scripting, and delivery to client.
- Review creator footage and direct how it should be edited, structured, and repurposed for performance.
- Manage Editor briefing, revisions, and final delivery to client
Across all projects:
- Uphold adherence to brand voice, direct response best practices, and platform guidelines across all creative.
- Mentor and elevate junior team members in concept development, briefing, execution, and platform-specific best practices.
- Drive high QA standards across all creative outputs.
- Lead adherence to agency processes, ensuring execution follows established systems to reduce risk and streamline workflows.
Project Management & Organization:
- Own creative organization across assigned projects, including documenting client feedback and maintaining creative guidelines in Asana and Notion.
- Maintain and evolve internal creative libraries with relevant assets, references, creator footage, and project files.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Account teams on ad analysis, insights, and new concept development, using performance learnings to inform future creative.
- Lead internal communication on timelines, deliverables, and project status across Editors.
Resource Allocation:
- Monitor workloads and adjust resources as needed to meet project deadlines.
- Support the facilitation of all internal and client feedback to ensure timely action.
- Anticipate production needs based on the creative roadmap, particularly for UGC, and proactively flag creator, product, footage, or resource requirement in partnership with Senior Strategy Director.
Internal Communication and Client Facing:
- Act as the connective tissue between strategy, concepting, production, and post-production to ensure creative intent is maintained from brief through final asset.
- Foster strong communication channels between your Pod and Client teams. Communication occurs between Slack, Asana, and weekly calls.
- Lead client kickoffs, monthly and bi-weekly strategy meetings, and breakout sessions.
- Present creative concepts and explain the strategic rationale, audience insight, creative angle, and intended execution.
- Drive ongoing client communication through updates and status sharing.
- Own distribution of creative for client review and manage feedback across production channels.
Qualifications:
- Hold a BA or BFA in Advertising, Creative Arts, Writing, or a related media focus
- Expert-level social landscape fluency: you can smell a trend a mile away and have an eye for “what works” on Paid Social.
- Confident in managing creative projects and workflows for creative teams in a fast paced setting, preferably at an agency or in-house at a DTC brand.
- Experience managing a team of creatives (e.g., Video Editors, Designers) and a strong interest in further developing this area of professional experience.
- Strong concepting and copywriting skills, with the ability to turn strategy, performance insights, and audience understanding into compelling creative ideas and actionable briefs.
- Experience owning UGC production end-to-end, from creative concept and creator sourcing through briefing, footage review, editing direction, revisions, and final delivery.
- Full proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, AfterEffects).
