Database Administrator

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) with strong domain expertise in Supply Chain & Distribution. In this role, you will be responsible for the performance, reliability, and security of core PostgreSQL databases supporting enterprise supply chain, inventory, order fulfillment, and distribution systems. You will lead database optimization, schema design, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure uninterrupted supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain Data & Database Administration

Provision, configure, monitor, and maintain enterprise PostgreSQL database environments supporting mission-critical supply chain, warehouse management, and distribution platforms.

Optimize database schemas and transactional performance for high-volume inventory updates, order processing, and logistics tracking.

Execute database upgrades, patch management, schema migrations, and routine maintenance tasks (VACUUM, REINDEX, bloat management).

Performance Tuning & High Availability

Monitor database health, optimize complex analytical and transactional queries, and fine-tune indexes and connection pooling for real-time distribution operations.

Implement and manage high-availability (HA), streaming replication, failover setups, and automated backup/recovery solutions to prevent operational downtime.

Troubleshoot complex database locking issues, concurrency bottlenecks, and resource constraints during peak distribution/logistics windows.

Required Qualifications & Skills
Domain Expertise: Must have proven experience supporting databases in Supply Chain, Distribution, Logistics, or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

Core Expertise: 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA with deep knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, storage engines, and system internals.

Performance Optimization: Advanced proficiency in query tuning, execution plan analysis (EXPLAIN ANALYZE), indexing strategies, and database diagnostics for high-throughput transactional environments.

High Availability & Backups: Hands-on experience with streaming replication, connection poolers (PgBouncer), backup tools (pgdump, pgBackRest, WAL-G), and disaster recovery planning.

Automation & Infrastructure: Proficient in Linux environments and shell scripting (Bash, Python) to automate administrative tasks and monitoring alerts.
