Simpson Race Products, a racing and motorcycle safety product leader, has an immediate opening for a Product Developer for the brand, Simpson Powersports. This role requires the candidate to have knowledge and understanding of the powersports segment(s).
As a Product Developer for Simpson Powersports at Simpson Race Products, you'll play a vital role in contributing to product design and vendor collaboration. Your role encompasses various concept-to-market tasks, including design coordination and communication, design realization of real-life products, vendor communication, and overseeing sample validation into the production phase. You will engage cross-functionally to execute the product portfolio, manage the development process externally, and maintain constant communication with involved parties in the Portfolio and Marketing teams.
Role Description The Product Developer – Powersports is a full-time, on-site role based in New Braunfels, TX. This role is responsible for researching and developing new powersports products, including concept generation, prototype evaluation, and performance testing. The Product Developer collaborates with product management, engineering, marketing, and supply chain teams to define product requirements, analyze market trends, and ensure products meet customer and brand standards. Daily responsibilities include translating enthusiast needs into product specifications, coordinating with vendors and manufacturing partners, maintaining development timelines, and documenting technical details and test results. The role also involves ongoing competitive analysis, continuous improvement of existing products, and supporting product launches with technical insights and training for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration, technical documentation, and clear presentation of concepts and test results.
- Experience in Research and Development (R&D) and product development, including concept design, prototyping, testing, and iteration.
- Background in powersports, automotive, mechanical engineering, or related technical discipline; familiarity with helmets, PPE, and performance parts and enthusiast markets is highly beneficial.
- Ability to interpret technical data, use measurement and testing tools, and apply problem-solving methods to improve product performance and quality.
- Proficiency with CAD or design tools, and basic understanding of manufacturing processes and materials used in powersports and automotive products is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, product design, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work on-site in a hands-on environment, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
