Build software that law firms use to manage thousands of legal cases.
Tekmir makes a case tracking product for law firms with high case volumes. We’re hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer to help improve this actively used product, working with engineers and Product. You’ll take assigned features and fixes from clarifying requirements through implementation, code review, and staging validation.
The engagement
- Commitment: A 20-hour weekly equivalent on a flexible schedule, mostly async with a few calls.
- Location: Fully remote in the lower 48 United States.
- Compensation: Competitive hourly rate.
- Term: 30 days from contract activation with review at completion and possibility of further work.
Our technology
Our application code is principally Python, deployed to AWS using AWS CDK. Our frontend applications use Node.js and Next.js and are deployed on Vercel. We use Linear for delivery tracking and GitHub for code collaboration.
The work you’ll own
Understand the problem. Review requirements and acceptance criteria with Product. Ask specific questions, identify dependencies, and resolve important edge cases before coding.
Build across the stack. Implement user interfaces, backend services, APIs, and supporting data changes. Follow established codebase patterns and deliver maintainable solutions within the agreed scope.
Show that it works. Write and run tests, check the behavior yourself, and open pull requests with clear context. Participate in code review and address technical feedback. Learn why it is important to the business and verify the tests match the business needs.
Follow through. Validate deployed changes in staging against acceptance criteria. Resolve issues raised by Product, and keep progress, decisions, and blockers visible to the team. Ensure the ticket is moved to the next stage and software delivery processes are maintained.
What you’ll bring
- High level proficiency with software engineering practices, including frontend and backend web application development.
- Ability to build and debug interfaces, APIs, application logic, and relational database interactions.
- Experience with Git, pull requests, testing, code review, and staging environments.
- Clear written communication, sound judgment about scope, and reliable follow-through.
- Availability for the weekly commitment of development efforts, scheduled check-in call, and other team communications.
We value realistic planning, maintainable code, and tested work handed over with the context the next reviewer needs.
