About the Role- Make My Health builds consumer health-tech products, including wearable devices that pair sensors with our mobile app to help people track and improve their health (e.g. posture, movement, recovery). As our hardware initiative grows, we're looking for an Electronics/Embedded Systems intern to help prototype and build these devices — starting with our current wearable project and extending to future health-device builds as they come up.
What You'll Do
- Prototype sensing pipelines using common sensors (IMUs, pressure, temperature, or similar, depending on the device) to capture the physical signal a product needs to track.
- Build calibration and signal-processing logic that turns raw sensor data into meaningful health/behavior signals (e.g. a baseline position, a threshold crossing, a trend).
- Wire and solder compact circuits combining sensors, actuators (buzzers, LEDs, haptics), batteries, and a Bluetooth/BLE chip (e.g. ESP32, nRF52).
- Write embedded firmware (C/C++, Arduino IDE or equivalent) for the device's core logic and power management.
- Get BLE streaming working so a companion phone app can receive and log device data.
- Iterate on prototypes for comfort, battery life, and accuracy through hands-on testing.
- Document each build: wiring diagrams, component lists, calibration parameters, and firmware notes, so designs can be handed off for app integration or production scoping.
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Electronics, ECE, Mechatronics, IoT, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, or similar microcontroller platforms — academic, personal, or hackathon projects all count.
- Working knowledge of common sensors (IMUs, etc.) and basic calibration/signal-processing concepts.
- Familiarity with BLE/Bluetooth communication fundamentals.
- Comfortable with basic circuit design, breadboarding, and soldering.
- Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded programming.
- A DIY, trial-and-error mindset — this is early-stage prototyping across multiple products, not a single spec'd-out build.
Nice to have
- Prior experience in designing or building a wearable device.
- Familiarity with CAD and 3D printing for enclosure design
- Experience working with a mobile app team on hardware/software integration.
