About the job

As a Product Tax Analyst, you’ll bridge tax expertise and product development for a high-precision tax preparation platform. You’ll research state and federal tax rules and turn them into clear requirements that Product, Development, and QA can act on.

You’ll work cross-functionally on new state implementations and product features, making sure every release reflects accurate tax logic. This role is ideal for someone with a tax background who enjoys structured documentation, hands-on testing, and seeing regulations become real product experiences.

What you’ll do

  • Research and document state and federal tax rules to support new features and state implementations.
  • Write clear, structured specifications that communicate tax requirements to the development team.
  • Test new features hands-on and collaborate with QA to validate functionality against tax regulations.
  • Review product functionality from a tax perspective, providing feedback and improvement ideas.
  • Provide input on the design of internal tools that streamline how tax rules are integrated.
  • Collaborate with Product, Development, and QA teams in a supportive, cross-functional environment.

What you’ll bring

  • 4+ years of experience in tax research, tax preparation, or product/business analysis.
  • Solid background or strong professional interest in US state, federal individual, or corporate tax rules.
  • Proven experience writing clear, structured documentation, requirements, or specifications.
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail, with the ability to translate complex regulations into structured logic.
  • Hands-on experience with requirements gathering and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • C1 English or higher, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with tax preparation software.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • QA or testing experience in a software product.

What success looks like

Within your first 30 days, you’ll understand the platform’s tax logic and document your first state requirements. By 60 days, you’ll write specifications the development team can build from with minimal clarification. By 90 days, you’ll own tax requirements for new state implementations and be a trusted reviewer of product functionality from a tax perspective.

Why this role

You’ll get direct exposure to both the tax and product sides of the business, a real voice in shaping internal tools and product decisions, and hands-on QA experience while collaborating closely with Product, Development, and QA.
