Invoice Butler is a powerful AR service powered by software and AI.

We help B2B companies manage accounts receivable end-to-end — from invoice follow-ups and payment reminders to supplier portals, escalations, inbox management, texting, calling, and collections workflows.

Our customers are fast-growing companies that want to improve cash flow without hiring a large internal AR team.

We work with companies ranging from early-stage startups to well-known growth-stage businesses, helping finance teams automate and operationalize one of the most painful parts of running a company: getting paid.

We’re a small, fast-moving team based in NYC building a category-defining company at the intersection of AI, operations, and finance.

CEO is a 2x founder, early Dropbox, Clockwise and Asana GTM executive, and YC 2016 alum where he was directly advised by Sam Altman. Our CTO is a very experienced engineer: she was the first engineer at MongoDB and a senior engineer at Google and Google Ventures, so it so it's a great place to learn.

We are gaining a lot of customers and need to build out more automation for our platform. We are well-capitalized with several years of runway and a healthy (and increasing!) stream of revenue.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a strong software engineer who passionately enjoy programming. Interest in data engineering is a plus. You will join the team of founding engineers on the team and get ground floor experience at one of NY's fastest growing startups. You'll be expected to learn how to scope and execute increasingly complex projects at the highest levels of quality.

• You will have a huge impact (directly, on thousands of companies' bottom lines).
• You'll be able to take full ownership of entire projects, but also be given the resources you need to solve any problems you run into.

• Interacting directly with customers to understand their needs
• Writing code that handles collecting invoices from hundreds of thousands of customers already, and will need to scale to many orders of magnitude beyond that
• Creating a language for building state machines
• Building greenfield code and scaling solutions on AWS
• Performing data analysis, presenting Jupyter notebooks, and developing classifiers and fine-tuning LLMs (depending on interests)
• Implementing front-end features as needed

Our stack is Python on EC2. We use Apache Airflow for pipelines, Postgres for a database, and Pandas for most data manipulation.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 3+ years of working software engineering experience
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering required
• Working on small teams and have solid experience contributing in startups or smaller companies
• The most important part of this role is a strong desire to build clean, intuitive and performant code. This manifests in both the speed and security of our system without compromising user experience. Our interview consists of several hours of traditional coding-on-a-whiteboard-style technical questions. The position is language agnostic, but you should have a strong grasp of algorithms and data structures.
