About Timber
Timber Platforms Inc. (“Timber” or the “Company”) is building a marketplace where founders can list businesses, and where operators, packagers, and capital partners can option, package, and launch them as structured deals — adapting the model of Hollywood's decades-old “packaged deal” structure for the business world. Under Timber's model, a listed business can be optioned under an exclusive 6-, 12-, or 18-month window, packaged with audits, operators, capital, and talent, and then launched, licensed, or resold. All work attached to a deal is timestamped and hashed to the Deal Log, so it stays with the listing. Timber's guiding principle is that opportunity should be built by the people — not the gatekeepers. Core platform components include the Marketplace, Talent Hub, Packaging Workspace, Founder HQ, TimberU™ (the platform's educational library), and the Deal & Legal Glossary.
Role Overview
This role exists to vision-cast, build, and cultivate the educational wing of Timber, making Timber approachable to a wide audience of people who've never optioned, packaged, or built a business deal before — turning unfamiliar concepts into content that builds user confidence and trust in the platform.
Position / Title
TimberU™ Program Lead (TUPL)
Role Classification
Early Employee — “Important early hire who receives equity compensation, but isn't part of the founding ownership group.”
Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Product & Platform Lead (PPL), in coordination with the Founder & CEO.
Start Date
To be confirmed in writing between the parties via Offer Letter.
Responsibilities
The TimberU™ Program Lead (TUPL) leads TimberU™, Timber's educational library and knowledge hub. This role oversees the development of articles, guides, how-to resources, videos, definitions, and educational content that helps users understand business, startups, entrepreneurial IP, Optioning, Packaging, and Building. The Head of TimberU owns the TimberU content strategy, educational quality, contributor network, and growth of the library as a core resource within the Timber platform.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Owning the content strategy and editorial roadmap for TimberU, Timber's educational library
• Developing articles, guides, how-to resources, videos, and definitions covering business fundamentals, startups, entrepreneurial IP, Optioning, Packaging, and Building
• Maintaining and expanding the Deal & Legal Glossary and related educational reference content
• Building and managing a network of contributors (subject-matter experts, operators, advisors) for TimberU content
• Ensuring the educational quality, accuracy, and accessibility of TimberU content for users at all experience levels
• Tracking engagement with TimberU content and using it to inform content growth priorities
• Structuring TimberU content so it's easy to browse, search, and reference from within the platform
• Keeping content up to date as Timber's terminology, features, and processes evolve
• Coordinating with the Product & Platform Lead on where and how TimberU content appears in the platform experience
Qualifications
Strong relevant experience matters more than a specific pedigree.
• Strong writing and content-creation skills; able to explain complex or unfamiliar concepts simply
• Comfortable researching and synthesizing business, startup, and legal concepts for a general audience
• Experience with content strategy, education, or knowledge-base work is a plus, but not required
• Organized and able to manage a content calendar and contributor relationships
• Genuine interest in entrepreneurship and small-business topics
What “Wins” Look Like for this role
Concrete markers that this role is succeeding at Timber's current stage:
• A foundational library of TimberU articles, guides, video content, and glossary entries live on the platform
• New users able to understand Optioning, Packaging, and Building without outside help
• A small, active network of contributors adding credible educational content
• TimberU content measurably reducing user confusion and support questions about how Timber works
• TimberU established as a reason people trust and return to the platform
Expected Time Commitment
Hours as needed, reflecting Timber's current early development stage. There is no fixed weekly hour requirement; the TUPL is expected to commit whatever time is reasonably needed to meet the responsibilities above. This commitment is expected to increase as Timber reaches key funding or traction milestones.
Remote / Work Arrangement
Remote, with core collaboration hours coordinated with the CEO and founding team.
Communication Expectations
Weekly 1:1 with the CEO, participation in the founding-team leadership sync, and prompt (same-business-day) responsiveness on the Company's primary communication channel during agreed working hours.
Outside Activities
Because this is an hours-as-needed engagement, TUPL may hold other employment, consulting engagements, or business activities, provided they do not directly compete with Timber, do not create a conflict of interest, and do not interfere with the availability and responsiveness this role requires. Any potential conflict should be disclosed to, and approved in advance by, the CEO.
At-Will Relationship
This role is engaged on an at-will basis. Either the TUPL or the Company may terminate the relationship at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice. Nothing in this document guarantees continued engagement for any specific period, notwithstanding the vesting schedule described above.
Confidentiality & IP Assignment
As a condition of this role, the TUPL is required to execute Timber's Confidential Information and Invention Assignment Agreement (“CIIAA”) prior to or concurrent with starting work. Under the CIIAA, all inventions, work product, and intellectual property created in connection with Timber are assigned to the Company, and the Company's confidential information (including marketplace, listing, and deal data) is protected during and after the engagement.
