About the job

About Us

Worley is a global company of energy, chemicals and resources experts headquartered in Australia. We partner with our customers to deliver projects and create value across the life of their assets. We specialize in consulting, engineering, procurement and construction across the project lifecycle, with services extending through to operations and decommissioning. Leveraging extensive experience and AI-enabled delivery, we support customers in navigating complexity as they meet today's needs and transition to more sustainable solutions.

Purpose of the role

You will be responsible for providing day-to-day technical support to users in a field environment, using your experience and judgment to troubleshoot issues, resolve assigned problems, and keep technology services operating effectively.

You will work within established practices, procedures, and technical guidelines while making independent technical decisions within your area of responsibility. The role requires someone who can understand the needs of a busy project environment, assess problems, determine an appropriate course of action, and know when to involve others.

You will also play an integral role in supporting junior team members by assigning and reviewing activities when required and sharing your technical knowledge and experience.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on desktop and field technology support to project and site personnel, helping users resolve hardware, software, connectivity, and other technology-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions within established guidelines and procedures.
  • Support the installation, configuration, maintenance, and effective use of field technology systems, equipment, and applications.
  • Respond to technology support requests and prioritize work based on business and project requirements.
  • Work with other technology teams and project stakeholders to resolve issues that require additional technical expertise or coordination.
  • Apply established processes, standards, and procedures to ensure technology services are delivered consistently and effectively.
  • Use experience and technical judgment to address assigned problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to users and colleagues, adapting the level of detail to the audience.
  • Build effective working relationships with project teams, users, technology colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify recurring issues or opportunities for improvement and raise recommendations that can improve the field technology experience.
  • Maintain accurate information and documentation related to support activities, equipment, systems, and technical issues as required.
  • Support technology-related activities associated with project or field operations, including coordination with relevant teams when technology requirements change.
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members and may assign and review their activities as required.
  • Ensure assigned work is completed accurately, adequately, and in accordance with established procedures and technical requirements.
  • Keep knowledge of relevant field technology systems, processes, and tools current and apply that knowledge to day-to-day support activities.

What you’ll bring to the role

You will bring a practical, service-oriented approach to technology support, along with the technical knowledge and judgment needed to work effectively in a field environment.

You Will Ideally Have

  • A university degree or equivalent qualification in information technology, computer science, or a related field, combined with relevant experience; or an equivalent trade qualification with additional relevant training and experience.
  • Typically, 3+ years of relevant experience for candidates with a university degree, or approximately 7+ years of relevant experience for candidates with a trade qualification.
  • Proficiency in a field technology or desktop support discipline, with hands-on experience supporting users and technology in an operational or project environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of systems, processes, and tools relevant to field technology support.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess an issue, determine an appropriate solution, and follow it through to resolution.
  • The ability to work independently within established guidelines while recognizing when an issue requires additional technical input or escalation.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy field environment.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in a straightforward and practical way.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, project personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Good judgment and attention to detail, particularly when working with technology that supports project and business-critical activities.
  • A willingness to share knowledge, provide guidance to colleagues, and support the development of less experienced team members.
  • The ability to build trust with users and stakeholders and, where appropriate, influence others toward practical technical solutions.
