POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Data Analyst Manager, the Data Analyst will be responsible for researching and analyzing complex data sets associated with hospitals across Florida. This position supports the development of executive level presentations, dashboards, reports, and other data products and works under the direction of the Data Analyst Manager to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely completion of assigned projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Management & Integrity
- Maintain master hospital data, including creation, updates, validation, and deletion, in accordance with established procedures and standards.
- Support initiatives for data integrity and normalization.
- Perform routine data validation and quality-control reviews to identify discrepancies, anomalies, or incomplete data.
- Process confidential data and information securely.
Data Collection & Research
- Research and gather data on current hospital finance and policy issues in collaboration with the association’s policy and advocacy teams.
- Assist in collecting data for media inquiries, press releases, and interviews.
- Create and share surveys using SurveyMonkey or a similar data collection application.
Data Processing & Analytics
- Assist in importing financial and hospital data onto SAP Analytics Cloud.
- Assist in building dashboards with backend data models and provide daily support for the data warehouse, troubleshooting data anomalies.
- Create and maintain rich interactive visualizations through data interpretation and analysis from multiple data sources.
- Analyze trends in financial and hospital data and develop statistical findings and conclusions for review and presentation to management.
- Prepare, analyze, and distribute hospital-specific data.
Reporting & Visualization
- Develop and maintain dashboards, presentations, reports, and other data visualizations for executive leadership, FHA staff, members, and other stakeholders.
- Educate end-users towards self-serve reporting models and dashboards.
Project & Team Support
- Complete assigned projects and data requests in accordance with priorities and deadlines established by the Data Analyst Manager.
- Provide regular updates regarding project status, anticipated completion dates, and potential issues or delays.
- Collaborate with other members of the Data Analytics team to ensure consistency in methodologies, reporting, and presentation of data.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of data sources, methodologies, processes, and recurring reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Previous experience as a data analyst or in a related analytical role preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets and identify meaningful trends and insights.
• Experience creating data visualizations, dashboards, and reports using large data sets.
• Ability to analyze existing tools, databases, and processes and recommend improvements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex data findings to non-technical audiences.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to research and understand complex healthcare, hospital finance, and policy issues.
• Experience with Python and/or R for data analysis is preferred.
• Experience reading and interpreting hospital financial or cost-report data is preferred.
• Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud, Power BI, SQL, or similar analytics and business intelligence tools is preferred.
