About the job

Data Architect

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to help shape and improve our enterprise data architecture. This role will focus on building scalable approaches for data platforms, integration, metadata, and governance across a complex technology environment.

The Data Architect will work closely with engineering, platform, data science, product, and governance teams to establish practical architecture standards and ensure data is reliable, well-structured, accessible, and appropriately governed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design scalable architecture for enterprise data platforms, services, and data products.
  • Develop architecture patterns and standards that can be adopted across teams and business areas.
  • Help define the organization's approach to data integration, interoperability, metadata, and data management.
  • Provide architectural guidance for data platforms operating across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
  • Design approaches for bringing together structured, unstructured, clinical, research, and operational data.
  • Provide guidance on data catalogs, metadata management, semantic layers, and related data discovery capabilities.
  • Establish data architecture practices that support data quality, lineage, traceability, and governance.
  • Work with engineering and data teams to align technical architecture with business and platform requirements.
  • Evaluate data technologies and recommend solutions that can be adopted effectively within the enterprise.
  • Communicate architecture decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentor engineers and other architects on data architecture principles and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a closely related technology role.
  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale data platforms.
  • Strong understanding of distributed data systems and modern cloud architectures.
  • Experience with data architecture concepts such as Data Fabric, Data Mesh, Data Products, metadata management, and data governance.
  • Experience developing architecture standards, frameworks, or reference architectures used by multiple teams.
  • Understanding of data integration and interoperability across diverse data sources.
  • Familiarity with metadata, data catalog, or semantic-layer technologies.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, DICOM, or CDA.
  • Understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance considerations for sensitive information, including HIPAA and HITECH.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in healthcare, life sciences, research, financial services, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with clinical, claims, EHR/EMR, or research data.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data models and standards such as OMOP and FHIR.
  • Exposure to healthcare terminology and master data management, including patient/provider data.
  • Experience with terminology standards such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, or ICD-10.
  • Experience with de-identification, consent management, or access governance for sensitive data.
  • Experience establishing enterprise-wide data governance practices.
  • Experience integrating structured and unstructured data into governed data platforms.
  • Experience working with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Exposure to knowledge graphs, ontologies, or other semantic technologies.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on data architect who can think across the enterprise rather than focusing on a single application or dataset. You should be comfortable defining architecture standards, working through complex data-integration challenges, collaborating with multiple teams, and turning data strategy into practical technical solutions.

Experience in a regulated environment and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders will be highly valued.
