Senior Software Engineer

Confident powers analytical testing labs — the labs that test samples on behalf of businesses and report product safety to consumers and regulators at high volume. When a lab publishes a result through our platform, businesses make decisions with it and regulators rely on it. Our technology is essential to thousands of businesses across North America, and we're scaling our product to match a growing opportunity.

We're hiring an experienced engineer to help us build it. This is a senior individual-contributor role with real ownership: you'll ship features end-to-end, shape architecture, and raise the bar for how we build.

This role is fully remote and open to candidates anywhere, as long as you can maintain at least a 4-hour overlap with U.S. Pacific Time for synchronous work.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and troubleshoot features across our stack: React/TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL (via SQLAlchemy), and AWS.
• Own software development projects end-to-end, from ideation through execution, validation, and iteration.
• Collaborate with our Leadership, Engineering, Product, and Service teams on a weekly basis.
• Raise the engineering bar through thoughtful code review, mentorship, and leading by example.

• You have a track record of ownership. You've shipped products people use, owned outcomes rather than tickets, and left every codebase you've touched better than you found it.
• You're an excellent communicator. You write clearly and precisely — especially with non-technical stakeholders — and you're comfortable with the demands of remote-first, written-first collaboration.
• You're humble and you care about others. You internalize feedback from anyone on the team, and you give direct, constructive feedback to help others improve. You believe honesty is kindness — and kindness is kindness, too.

Your Skills:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building products people rely on in production
• Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks (React/TypeScript preferred)
• Proficiency in server-side web technologies (Python/Flask preferred)
• Proficiency with AI-development tools and best practices (Claude Code preferred)
• Bonus: experience designing/developing API for third party integrations
• Bonus: experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or other regulated, data-heavy software — you'll ramp faster on our domain

• Cash Compensation: Competitive annual salary of $150,000-$180,000 USD, depending on experience and location.
