About Paravane

Paravane builds software for identifying risk, unusual activity, and signals that are easy to miss in everyday business systems.

Paravane Labs is a wholly owned subsidiary of DOYDL Technologies. Our first public product, smtpRS, brings email risk intelligence developed through years of private production use to a broader market.

Role summary

Paravane is looking for a Network & Infrastructure Engineer to help design, build, secure, and operate the network infrastructure behind our products and internal systems. You’ll work across cloud networking, connectivity, DNS, traffic management, network security, observability, and production infrastructure while helping us build systems that remain reliable as Paravane grows.

About the role

As Paravane’s products and infrastructure grow, the systems connecting our applications, services, customers, and external providers become increasingly important.

The Network & Infrastructure Engineer will take ownership of the networking foundations supporting Paravane’s production and development environments. You’ll help design network architecture, secure service-to-service communication, troubleshoot complex connectivity problems, manage traffic and routing, and build the monitoring necessary to understand how our infrastructure behaves in production.

This is a hands-on engineering role. You should be comfortable moving between network architecture and the systems that depend on it—investigating packet-level problems when necessary while also understanding application behavior, cloud infrastructure, operating systems, and security boundaries.

You’ll work closely with software engineering, security, and operations to ensure our infrastructure is resilient, observable, secure, and capable of supporting new products as the company grows.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, and maintain network infrastructure supporting Paravane’s production and development environments
  • Design secure cloud network architectures including virtual networks, subnets, routing, gateways, firewalls, and private connectivity
  • Manage and troubleshoot TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, and other protocols used throughout our products and infrastructure
  • Design network segmentation and security boundaries between services, environments, and infrastructure components
  • Configure and maintain load balancers, reverse proxies, ingress systems, gateways, and traffic-routing infrastructure
  • Investigate complex network connectivity, latency, packet loss, DNS, routing, and application communication issues
  • Build monitoring and observability for network health, traffic patterns, availability, latency, and failures
  • Analyze network traffic and logs to identify unusual behavior, performance problems, and potential security issues
  • Work with engineering teams to design reliable service-to-service communication
  • Help secure externally exposed services and reduce unnecessary network attack surface
  • Design resilient network architectures that minimize single points of failure
  • Support high-availability and disaster-recovery planning for network-dependent infrastructure
  • Manage DNS architecture, records, routing policies, and related infrastructure
  • Support certificate management and TLS configuration across production systems
  • Develop infrastructure automation for repeatable network configuration and deployment
  • Use infrastructure-as-code practices to manage network resources where appropriate
  • Help establish secure remote access and administrative connectivity to production infrastructure
  • Review network architecture and infrastructure changes for reliability and security concerns
  • Assist with capacity planning as traffic and product usage grow
  • Develop network troubleshooting procedures, operational documentation, and runbooks
  • Participate in production incident investigation and root-cause analysis
  • Work with software engineers to diagnose problems that cross application and network boundaries
  • Evaluate networking technologies and infrastructure providers based on reliability, security, performance, operational complexity, and cost
  • Help establish Paravane’s long-term standards for networking, infrastructure reliability, and production connectivity

What you bring

  • Strong professional experience in network engineering, infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, site reliability engineering, or a related technical role
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and network architecture
  • Deep knowledge of DNS, routing, NAT, firewalls, VPNs, proxies, load balancing, and network segmentation
  • Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS and TLS
  • Experience designing and operating networking within modern cloud environments
  • Experience troubleshooting complex network and application connectivity problems
  • Comfort using packet captures, network diagnostic tools, logs, and monitoring systems to investigate problems
  • Experience with Linux systems and networking
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration automation
  • Understanding of network security principles, least privilege, segmentation, and defense-in-depth
  • Experience with network monitoring, observability, alerting, and performance analysis
  • Understanding of high availability, redundancy, failover, and disaster-recovery concepts
  • Experience working with production systems where reliability and security are important
  • Ability to troubleshoot across network, operating system, infrastructure, and application layers
  • Comfort working with APIs, command-line tooling, automation, and scripting
  • Strong documentation and technical communication skills
  • Ability to independently investigate ambiguous infrastructure problems and drive them through resolution
  • Good judgment when balancing security, reliability, performance, complexity, and cost
  • Comfort working in an early-stage environment where infrastructure standards and processes are still being established
  • Experience with SMTP and email infrastructure, cloud security, Kubernetes networking, service meshes, zero-trust architectures, BGP, IPv6, or multi-cloud networking is a plus
