Job Title: Project & Relationship Manager
Location: NYC (Headquarters) - on-site
Salary Range: $110K- $160K, depending on work experience
About Us:
Scope Labs is an innovative technology company committed to providing cutting-edge solutions to empower businesses to reach their full potential. We specialize in delivering high-impact technical products and services that span across various industries, helping our clients elevate their offerings, engage customers, and build brand loyalty. Our team is made up of passionate professionals who thrive on creativity, collaboration, and driving measurable success for our clients and ourselves.
Job Summary:
We're looking for a high-performing Technical Project Manager with strong project management skills—someone who blends emotional intelligence, sharp organization, and technical fluency to lead client relationships end-to-end. You'll actively listen, own client issues, manage delivery timelines, and keep stakeholders aligned.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-accountability environments and brings both structure and warmth to every client touchpoint.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client accounts—owning relationships, managing expectations, and proactively identifying needs.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable business value for stakeholders at all levels.
- Lead project delivery from kickoff to completion: track timelines, manage deliverables, send timely updates, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
- Actively problem-solve client issues—dig into root causes, identify workarounds, and escalate only when deep technical input is truly needed.
- Manage competing priorities across multiple accounts while maintaining a calm, solutions-focused presence under pressure.
- Facilitate regular client meetings, retrospectives, and check-ins to foster trust, gather feedback, and adapt delivery plans as needed.
- Maintain clear, detailed documentation of client conversations, action items, and evolving requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and design teams—serving as a filter and force multiplier for internal team productivity.
- Protect internal bandwidth by managing client needs diplomatically and de-escalating where necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of client-facing experience in relationship management, account leadership, or project delivery roles—preferably with experience managing “challenging” or high-stakes relationships.
- Strong communication and emotional intelligence—able to actively listen, read between the lines, empathize with client frustrations, and adapt tone/style mid-conversation.
- Naturally builds trust through relationship-building behaviors: consistent follow-through, transparency about deliverables, and a genuine interest in client success.
- Proactive problem solver—takes initiative to research and resolve without defaulting to escalation.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented—keeps commitments visible, tracks action items obsessively, and ensures nothing gets lost.
- Composed under pressure—navigates escalations calmly, doesn’t take client feedback personally, and keeps discussions solutions-focused.
- Comfortable with confrontation—can professionally push back, ask tough questions, and set boundaries with clients when needed.
- Strong written communication skills—able to craft detailed Slack messages, meeting notes, and client updates clearly and quickly.
- Background in B2B/B2C software or tech-adjacent services—able to understand development cycles, constraints, and stakeholder dynamics. Ideally brings some technical fluency.
- Previous startup or agency experience—understands pace, urgency, and shifting priorities.
- Project management mindset—run your own timelines, own deliverables, and drive clarity with or without formal tools.
- Protective team player—instinctively shields internal teams from unnecessary client chaos while keeping clients satisfied.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. Asana, Trello, Notion, Jira).
- Experience working in cross-functional teams including product, design, and engineering.
- Previous experience in client strategy or customer success roles at a high-growth company.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive base salary + discretionary performance-based incentives
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
- Paid time off, holidays, and parental leave
- Please note, this is a contract to hire position
