About the job

At Raise Robotics, we’re building robots that work where people shouldn’t. Our team has successfully deployed machines into real construction sites and factories, working every day. We’re now building our next generation platform to help build some of the largest structures in the world - think buildings, ships, energy generation plants, and more.

We’re looking for team members who enjoy touch technical challenges and want to make an impact. You’ll have the opportunity to travel to customer sites and see our machines working out in sites all across the world.

For this role, we are seeking a Motion Planning Engineerwho will develop models and algorithms to generate safe and accurate trajectories on the robot. You’ll be responsible for deciding appropriate technical approaches in addition to implementing and testing the onboard motion planning stack.

What we’re looking for:

  • At least 3 years developing motion planning software in a professional setting.
  • Expertise with classical motion planning for articulated robots, such as 6-DOF/7-DOF arms, legged robots, snake robots, or humanoid robots.
  • Experience with motion planning for navigation in unstructured environments.
  • Previous experience deploying robots to work in semi-structured and unstructured environments using perception.
  • Experience developing machine learning models for trajectory generation using RL or IL.
  • Familiarity using simulation tools such as Gazebo, Mujoco, or Isaac.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with existing motion planning libraries and develop custom motion planning algorithms for mobile manipulation.
  • Create large scale simulations to test onboard behavior and use data analysis techniques to interpret results.
  • Collaborate with perception and control engineers to determine interface requirements for accurate and safe motion.
  • Analyze logs and failure cases to make improvements.
  • Build task level planning logic for mobile manipulation.
