About The Role

This is a hands-on technical position based primarily in our laboratory and workshop in Framingham, Massachusetts. It is a strong fit for someone who enjoys building, wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning real technical systems.

As a Systems Integration Engineer, you will take ownership of the assembly, integration, and testing of rack-based hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation systems. You will work from electrical schematics, system layouts, assembly instructions, and test plans to build and deliver complete systems to customers.

The role involves practical work with 19’’ rack cabinets, electrical and mechanical components, cabling, instrumentation, and real-time simulation hardware. Most of your time will be spent working directly with equipment rather than behind a desk.Responsibilities

You will:

  • Assemble and integrate standard 24U, 38U, and 42U rack systems, including frames, doors, side panels, electrical components, and mechanical hardware.
  • Perform mechanical preparation and modification of components using standard hand tools and workshop equipment.
  • Preassemble cables and wire rack systems according to electrical schematics and system layouts.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and test complete rack systems and their individual components.
  • Create and maintain assembly, integration, and test plans.
  • Perform electrical and functional testing in accordance with applicable standards, including EN 61439 where applicable.
  • Document test results, complete test reports, and maintain project documentation.
  • Prepare completed systems for shipment, including final inspection, packaging, and logistics coordination.
  • Perform factory acceptance testing (FAT) with customers and internal project teams.
  • Support onsite installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer training.
  • Source locally required components, request quotations, place purchase orders, and monitor supplier deliveries.
  • Monitor supplier quality and coordinate the resolution of nonconformities.
  • Manage local stock and perform regular inventory checks.
  • Review project deliverables, including quality records, documentation, and test results.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve assembly, testing, documentation, and integration processes.
  • Coordinate closely with project management, systems engineering, production, and the HIL
  • Systems teams to understand project-specific requirements and constraints.
  • Help prioritize work assignments and maintain a safe, organized, and efficient workplace.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or an associate degree combined with equivalent practical work experience.
  • Hands-on experience assembling, wiring, integrating, testing, or commissioning technical systems.
  • A practical, self-directed approach and a willingness to take ownership of work from assembly through final testing.
  • Enjoyment of workshop- and laboratory-based work, including building, troubleshooting, and improving physical systems.
  • Ability to read and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, and technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work methodically through technical issues.
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
  • Proactive, flexible, dependable, and responsible working style.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work directly with customers, suppliers, and internal technical experts.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, international team.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink is helpful.
  • Experience with electrical control panels, industrial equipment, rack systems, HIL systems, or test and measurement equipment is a plus.
  • Experience with EPLAN or similar electrical design and documentation tools is a plus.
  • Previous customer-facing experience is helpful.
  • Prior leadership or mentoring experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 20%, including occasional customer visits and onsite commissioning.
  • Ability to work safely in a laboratory and workshop environment and perform the physical activities required for equipment assembly and integration.
