About the job
**CIVRA is seeking a strong, highly creative Designer I to join our architecture team.
This position is intended for a recent architecture graduate with exceptional design ability, a strong portfolio, and genuine enthusiasm for seeing ideas become real buildings. No previous professional experience is required.
We are looking for someone energetic, curious, idealistic, and excited about architecture. The right candidate should bring fresh ideas, strong visual instincts, and the determination to develop those ideas into thoughtful, buildable projects.
Unlike many entry-level design positions, this role will offer the opportunity to work on real projects that are intended to be built. Your design work will not end with a rendering. It will be carried forward into construction documents, permitting, coordination, and construction—giving you the opportunity to see your buildings come to life in real time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop strong architectural concepts and design solutions
Produce site studies, floor plans, elevations, massing studies, renderings, and presentation materials
Translate approved designs into coordinated construction documents
Build and develop project models using Revit
Prepare design presentations for company leadership using PowerPoint and Canva
Create compelling graphics, diagrams, boards, and visual narratives
Research materials, precedents, building systems, and new design approaches
Coordinate design work with internal teams and outside consultants
Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and site visits
Follow projects from early concept through construction
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
Exceptional academic or personal design portfolio
Strong architectural design and visual communication skills
Proficiency in Revit and familiarity with design and visualization programs such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Enscape, Lumion, Twinmotion, 3ds Max, V-Ray, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
Ability to create polished leadership presentations using PowerPoint and Canva
Graphic design experience or educational background is highly preferred
Strong understanding of composition, typography, color, diagrams, and presentation design
Curious, energetic, ambitious, and eager to contribute
Comfortable receiving feedback and continuing to develop ideas
Professional experience is not required
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Eligible experience may be documented toward NCARB AXP requirements under appropriate supervision
Direct exposure to design, production, consultant coordination, permitting, and construction
Opportunity to take increasing ownership of projects as abilities develop
Potential for long-term growth within the company
A full employee benefits package is currently being developed and is expected to be offered in the future
We are looking for more than someone who can operate software. We want a true designer—someone with ideas, conviction, visual talent, and the energy to help create buildings worth building.
Applicants should submit a résumé and portfolio demonstrating their strongest design, graphic, visualization, and presentation work.**
