About the job
Not sexy? Think again.
Junk removal is a $75B+ US market run almost entirely by guys with a truck and a flip phone. No pricing transparency, no instant booking, no brand. It's one of the largest service categories still untouched by software. That's the opportunity: the same playbook that turned taxis into Uber and handymen into Thumbtack, aimed at an industry nobody's bothered to fix.
JunkLine is that fix. An AI-driven marketplace where the whole stack, from the customer's first quote to back-end operations and dispatch, runs on AI: flat price in seconds, next-day booking, vetted local crews. We're launching in LA and you'd be in early, close to the founders.
Why the AI part is real, not a buzzword
The entire operation is built on AI, not just a chatbot bolted on. Our engine quotes a job from a photo and a text description in seconds, then AI runs the operations and dispatch behind it. That end-to-end automation is the wedge incumbents can't copy fast, and you'll be close to how it works and where it breaks.
The team
You'd work directly with founders who've previously built venture-backed companies. Small team, so you get real ownership and direct access, not a layer of managers.
What you'd actually do
Mostly growth, SEO, and marketing. These tasks look unglamorous on paper, but each is a real lever in the launch:
Own local SEO and Google Business Profile: ship location pages, build the review flywheel, climb local search. In a category where customers find you by searching, this is a compounding distribution asset and the highest-leverage thing we can build early.
Run neighborhood-level growth: local campaigns, partnerships, community events. This is how a marketplace gets density in its first zip codes, which is the whole game at the start.
Build and test marketing that brings customers in, then track what actually converts and tell us. We act on it fast.
Assist with customer interactions as needed, so you hear real objections firsthand. That's what makes your marketing accurate instead of guesswork.
Get a front-row view of the operations side too, so you understand the full demand-to-fulfillment loop.
Small team, so you touch the entire cycle and learn how a marketplace is built from zero. That's rare and hard to get anywhere but a seed-stage startup.
You
LA-based, can work on-site
Sharp writer, genuinely comfortable talking to people
Self-directed. You'll usually get a goal, not a script.
Any major, any year
Bonus: Spanish, a car, any customer-facing job before.
The details
$20-25/hr · 15-20 hrs/week · year-round, flexible around classes. This is an ongoing role, not a summer stint, and strong performers can grow into a full-time seat as we scale.
Think you're a fit? Tell us why. Real ownership, direct founder access, and a launch you can put your fingerprints on are on the table.
