About the job

Company Description Roboligent is an Austin-based robotics company building Robin — a force-controlled bimanual mobile manipulator for warehouse and industrial work. Our patent-pending actuators give robots human-like sensitivity, so they work alongside people instead of behind cages. Robin is deployed with real customers today, on real production floors.

The engineering team is small and the scope is focused. Work ships to real robots in real customer environments within days, not quarters.

Role Description You are the first Field Integration Engineer at Roboligent — for now, the whole function. Development builds Robin. You are the person who makes it work somewhere that is not our lab: surveying the site, commissioning the robot on the customer floor, integrating it with their systems and network, running the proof of concept, and reporting honestly on what happened.

You are also the return path. Everything the development team learns about how Robin behaves in the field comes through you. If you do not write it down, it does not exist.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You will be under a robot at six in the morning and in a meeting with a customer's safety officer at nine.

What you'll own

  • Site survey and feasibility — floor, network, power, and geometry, before anything ships
  • Commissioning and calibration — mapping, teach points, tuning to the customer's actual parts
  • Systems and network integration — getting Robin onto the customer's network and systems, through their IT security review
  • Safety and site approval — risk assessment and the customer's EHS process
  • Running the proof of concept — the numbers it's judged on, instrumented and reported honestly

What this role is not

  • You do not carry a sales quota — but you tell a customer when something will not work.
  • You do not own RMS or robot software development — you define what the field needs; the software team builds it.
  • You are not a one-person 24/7 support organization.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in field engineering, deployment engineering, systems integration, or automation commissioning, including robotics or comparable electromechanical systems
  • Direct experience deploying at customer sites, not only in a lab or factory
  • Clear written English and the discipline to document consistently
  • Able to travel at the cadence described below, including internationally, and to work occasional early, late, or weekend hours around customer production schedules
  • ROS 2, Python, Linux/Docker comfort assumed; WMS/MES, VDA5050, or PLC/fieldbus exposure a plus
  • Degrees are useful signal, not a requirement

Location and travel

Based in Austin, Texas. Roughly 20–25% travel once deployments are running — about one domestic trip a month and two international trips a year (primarily South Korea). Lighter in the first six months while you ramp up in Austin.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, now or in the future, and able to travel internationally without restriction.

Process

About three weeks end to end, with feedback after every stage: an intro call with our CEO, a writing sample (site report / incident write-up), a technical conversation with engineering, a compensated half-day session with Robin, final conversations, and references.
