DevOps Intern

About the Role
Heads Up For Tails is looking for a motivated DevOps Intern to join our Engineering team. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support, automate, and improve production-grade cloud infrastructure.
This role offers hands-on exposure to AWS, Linux, CI/CD, containers, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, and incident troubleshooting. It is ideal for candidates who enjoy solving technical problems and want to build a career in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.

What You’ll Do

• Support AWS infrastructure across services such as EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda, Route 53, and CloudWatch.
• Help build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
• Write Python scripts to automate deployments and operational tasks.
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes for application deployment and management.
• Assist with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Build monitoring dashboards and alerts using Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack.
• Perform basic Linux administration, troubleshooting, and performance checks.
• Support networking and DNS-related tasks involving HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, ports, and connectivity.
• Assist with production incidents, issue investigation, and root-cause analysis.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system reliability, security, and deployment efficiency.

What We’re Looking For

• AWS certification such as Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect Associate, or equivalent.
• Strong hands-on understanding of AWS, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, and CI/CD.
• Working knowledge of Python for scripting and automation.
• Familiarity with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code concepts.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, ports, and IP addressing.
• Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• B.Tech in Computer Science
• DevOps or cloud projects published on GitHub.
• Exposure to Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.
• Previous cloud, infrastructure, or DevOps internship experience.
• Familiarity with cloud security, IAM best practices, and incident management.
