TeklTalk is building AI-powered chatbots that help websites answer visitors' questions using their own content.

Instead of manually building and maintaining a knowledge base, TeklTalk can understand a website's content and turn it into an AI assistant that provides useful, source-backed answers.

We're a small, product-focused team, and you'll have the opportunity to work directly on the backend systems powering the product.

What you'll work on

We're looking for a Backend Developer who enjoys building APIs, working with data, and solving real product problems.

You'll work on things like:

• Building and maintaining backend APIs using Python and FastAPI
• Designing APIs and services that power the TeklTalk platform
• Working with website crawling, content processing, search and AI/RAG pipelines
• Building reliable asynchronous/background processing systems
• Working with databases, caching and queues
• Improving API performance, reliability and scalability
• Integrating third-party APIs and AI/LLM services
• Writing clean, maintainable and well-tested code
• Monitoring, debugging and improving production systems
• Experimenting with GCP and AWS for deployment, infrastructure and scaling
• Working closely with the product team to turn ideas into production features

What we're looking for

Required:

• Strong Python fundamentals
• Experience building REST APIs
• Experience with FastAPI or a similar Python framework
• Good understanding of databases and backend architecture
• Comfortable working with Git
• Ability to debug problems independently
• Strong understanding of HTTP, APIs and web applications
• Willingness to learn and experiment with cloud infrastructure

Nice to have:

• Experience with GCP or AWS
• Docker
• PostgreSQL
• Redis
• Celery/background jobs
• Web scraping/crawling
• RAG / LLM applications
• Vector databases or semantic search
• CI/CD
• Experience deploying production applications

You don't need to be an expert in every technology listed above. We're more interested in strong fundamentals, curiosity and the ability to figure things out.

You'll also have room to experiment with GCP and AWS deployments and help us figure out the infrastructure that makes the most sense as the product grows.
