About the job
We're looking for a senior engineer who is equally comfortable writing production code and providing technical leadership across multiple live systems.
This is not a greenfield role. You'll be joining mature production systems with real users, legacy integrations, ongoing migrations, and engineering decisions that matter from day one.
You'll spend your time understanding unfamiliar codebases, making pragmatic technical decisions, reviewing code, mentoring engineers, and taking ownership of systems that someone else originally built.
What you'll be doing
- Take technical ownership of 2–4 concurrent production projects.
- Design, implement, and maintain backend services using Node.js, NestJS, and PostgreSQL.
- Contribute to React applications where needed.
- Review code, mentor engineers, and help drive technical decisions across projects.
- Identify and prioritize technical debt while balancing business needs and long-term maintainability.
- Work across multiple codebases with different architectures, maturity levels, and integration patterns.
- Become the technical escalation point for systems you didn't originally build.
What success looks like
During your first weeks, you'll be expected to:
- Understand unfamiliar codebases and become productive with minimal onboarding.
- Trace business logic across backend and frontend services.
- Make sound technical decisions while working with existing production systems.
- Recognize where legacy integrations require extra care.
- Navigate infrastructure and deployment topology well enough to work independently.
- Build trust with the team through technical leadership, code reviews, and mentoring.
This role is designed for people who enjoy figuring things out, taking ownership, and learning by solving real production problems.
Fast ramp-up is an important part of the role. We expect engineers to understand unfamiliar codebases, navigate existing architecture, and start making technical decisions with minimal guidance.
If you can open an unfamiliar repo on Monday and meaningfully contribute within days, not months, you'll probably enjoy working with us.
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience owning production systems rather than only delivering isolated features.
- Strong understanding of REST API design and integration patterns.
- Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar systems and become productive with minimal guidance.
- Experience making architectural decisions and balancing short-term delivery with long-term maintainability.
- Experience mentoring developers, reviewing code, or leading technical work within an engineering team.
- English B2.
Technologies you'll encounter
Our projects use a variety of technologies, including:
- Node.js
- NestJS
- React
- TypeScript
- PostgreSQL
- GraphQL
- MikroORM
- BullMQ & Redis
- AWS (ECS, Lambda, S3, Aurora Serverless)
- Terraform
- Python
- Module Federation / Micro-Frontends
- Enterprise and legacy integrations
You don't need to be an expert in every technology listed above. However, you should be comfortable learning new tools and becoming productive quickly in an existing production environment.
What we offer
- Challenging engineering problems with real business impact.
- Technical ownership from day one.
- A remote-first, asynchronous engineering culture.
- The opportunity to influence architecture, engineering practices, and technical direction across multiple production systems.
- Collaboration with experienced engineers who value pragmatic solutions over unnecessary complexity.
