Introduction
The Lead Principal .Net Engineer will provide technical leadership across the enterprise application landscape. This role involves setting architectural direction, raising the engineering bar across multiple teams, and leading platform modernization while remaining hands-on in design, code, and critical problem-solving.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
- Serve as a technical leader and trusted advisor across multiple engineering teams.
- Establish and promote engineering standards, architectural principles, and development best practices.
- Lead technical reviews, architecture discussions, and strategic technology decisions.
Architecture & Solution Design:
- Design scalable, resilient, and maintainable enterprise solutions using modern .NET technologies.
- Define application architecture, integration patterns, system boundaries, and service ownership models.
- Lead architectural governance and ensure alignment with enterprise technology standards.
Modernization & Platform Evolution:
- Lead modernization of legacy .NET Framework applications and migration to modern .NET platforms.
- Drive adoption of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and API-first design.
- Identify and reduce technical debt through modernization programs.
Software Engineering Excellence
- Champion engineering quality through code reviews, design reviews, and technical mentorship.
- Promote clean architecture, SOLID principles, and secure coding practices.
- Establish and improve automated testing and quality engineering practices.
Platform Engineering & DevOps:
- Partner with infrastructure and operations teams to improve engineering productivity.
- Support CI/CD standardization, automation, and deployment safety.
- Promote Infrastructure as Code and modern deployment practices.
Security, Risk & Compliance:
- Embed secure-by-design practices into architecture and delivery standards.
- Ensure solutions satisfy regulatory and audit obligations.
- Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity design.
AI-Assisted Engineering & Emerging Technology:
- Define standards for responsible use of AI coding assistants.
- Evaluate and guide adoption of AI capabilities within enterprise applications.
- Ensure AI-assisted development improves throughput without degrading quality.
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Bachelor''s degree in computer science or related discipline.
- 15+ years of software engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in C#, ASP.NET, and modern .NET platforms.
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale distributed systems.
- Strong command of software architecture patterns and principles.
- Experience delivering cloud-based solutions in a production environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of platform engineering and internal developer platforms.
- Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging platforms.
- Experience in regulated industries like insurance or financial services.
- Relevant certifications in Azure or DevOps.
- Experience with SRE practices and AI integration.
