About the job

Canopy's mission is to optimize your home for health & wellness. Since launching in 2020, Canopy has expanded its suite of innovative home products that support wellness routines for the whole family. Canopy has an office in NYC with distributed team members located around the US and Asia.

OVERVIEW

You will own the execution of Canopy's physical product pipeline: the timelines, builds, factories, and thousand moving details that turn an approved concept into a product on a shelf. You will manage multiple development programs at once across humidifiers, filtration, diffusers, and new categories, working daily with our Hong Kong team, our factory partners, and the design, engineering, quality, and retail teams in New York. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves running the machine: knowing every date, spotting the slip before it cascades, and keeping programs honest. You will report to our Director of Product Development and work alongside the founders, our engineers, and our quality lead.

  • PROGRAM AND TIMELINE OWNERSHIP: Own the master timeline for every active development program, from approved concept through mass production. You keep ClickUp as the single source of truth, harmonized with engineering and factory schedules, and you know every key date (tooling kickoff, build start, compliance window, customer ready date) before anyone has to ask. When one date moves, you trace the cascade and reset the plan before it becomes a surprise.
  • BUILD REVIEW COORDINATION (EVT, DVT, PVT): Own the machine around every engineering build review: reviews scheduled on time, materials prepped, and every issue captured with a severity, an owner, a next step, and a date.
  • FACTORY AND OVERSEAS COORDINATION: Work daily with our Hong Kong team and factory partners on samples, tooling, colors, materials, and build readiness. You turn feedback around fast enough to protect tooling windows, and you push partners to flag risk early instead of compressing decisions into last-minute corners.
  • PACKAGING AND ARTWORK TIMELINES: Own the packaging and artwork schedule for every program: structure and die lines with suppliers, artwork rounds kept in motion, and retailer-specific requirements tracked so key release dates hold. Artwork reviews, file sharing, and legal approvals sit with our Director of Product Development; you make sure every step lands on time.
  • CROSS-FUNCTIONAL PARTNERSHIP: Coordinate design, engineering, quality, creative, retail, and CX so launches land together. You kick off content and photo assets on time, keep retail timelines updated when programs move, and get samples into the hands of the people who need them.
  • MEETINGS AND COMMUNICATION: Run product standups and the weekly sync with our Hong Kong team with tight agendas, a clear pace, and captured decisions. People leave your meetings knowing what they own and when it is due.
  • SYSTEMS AND PLAYBOOKS: Work inside Canopy's modern, AI-native stack: ClickUp is our project management source of truth, syncing to Smartsheet for staging schedules with partners. Use the automations our tech ops team builds to eliminate manual tracking work rather than absorbing it, and document the SOPs (sample management, build readiness, issue tracking) so the process scales beyond one person.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 4+ years managing physical consumer product development programs, taking products from brief through engineering builds (EVT, DVT, PVT) into mass production.
  • Direct experience working with overseas factories, including sample reviews, tooling timelines, and communicating priorities clearly across time zones.
  • A track record of catching timeline risk early. You can trace how one slipped date cascades through builds, compliance testing, freight, and launch, and you reset the plan before it becomes a surprise.
  • Relentless operating hygiene: every task you touch has an owner, a deadline, and clear success criteria, and you hold others to the same standard without friction.
  • Clear written and spoken communication, including the ability to make severity legible to a factory, an engineer, and an executive in the same message.
  • Comfort with modern, AI-native tools (we run on ClickUp, Smartsheet, and Claude, not legacy PLM systems). You will not build automations here, a dedicated teammate owns that, but you will use them daily and shape smart requests for what should be built next.
  • A proactive, ownership mindset: you surface gaps early, escalate before being asked, and dig into areas you cannot see into rather than waiting for updates.
  • A plus: hands-on Smartsheet experience today; our staging and factory schedules sync through it.
  • A plus: packaging development or retail compliance experience with major retailers, or familiarity with compliance and reliability testing for electrical consumer products.

YOU SHOULD APPLY IF

  • You take pride in being the person in the room who knows every date, and you find it satisfying rather than tedious to keep them true.
  • You love physical products: handling samples, judging a texture or color change, unboxing a pilot build to see what the factory actually made.
  • You enjoy the rhythm of working with factories and overseas teams, and you build real relationships across time zones.
  • You want a clean lane with real ownership: pure program execution on a small team where your work is visible to the founders every week.
  • You get energy from bringing order to a fast-moving pipeline rather than waiting for a process to be handed to you.
