Visual Graphic Designer

What You'll Do

As a Visual Graphic Designer at Avalara, you will join our global team of visual designers to support and execute the Avalara brand across marketing, corporate communications, and product. Reporting to the Director of Brand and Design, this US-based, remote role offers the unique opportunity to bridge the gap between conceptualization and flawless technical execution.

In this role, you will leverage a mix of traditional design methods and cutting-edge generative AI tools to optimize your workflow, push creative boundaries, and shape visual communications for our global market.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

• Digital Design & Production: Create a mix of digital campaign creative and optimized assets for programmatic display ads, paid social media, email campaigns, long-form content, and marketing and sales enablement materials.
• AI-Powered Design: Leverage generative AI platforms to accelerate conceptual brainstorming, rapidly generate asset variations, scale the design pipeline, and streamline edits.
• Large-Format & Event Creative: Support the concepting and production of large-format graphics during event and trade show seasons, including event signage and environmental graphics.
• Brand Alignment: Deliver high-quality, on-brand creative that perfectly aligns with project briefs and Avalara’s broader brand strategy.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

• Experience: BA in Design or a related field, and/or 4+ years of proven professional experience in graphic design with a strong portfolio showcasing digital, long-format, trade show/events work
• Core Design Expertise: Expertise across design tools including Adobe InDesign and Illustrator (multi-page layouts, vector assets, typography, and print-ready production), Figma (digital design systems, UI components, and collaborative layouts), and Adobe Express (rapid templating, asset versioning, and social media exports).
• AI Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience utilizing generative AI platforms (e.g., Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, DALL-E, or embedded AI tools within Adobe/Figma software) to enhance, scale, or optimize the design pipeline.
• Operational Skills: Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience using project management tools like Workfront, Jira, or Monday.com.

Pay Range Details

The base pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Colorado $77,300 - 123,700 [annually]

Washington $77,300 - 136,600 [annually]

California $77,300-$149,600[annually]

NYC $85,400-$149,600 [annually]

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The successful candidate’s actual salary/wage may be based on various factors, such as geographic location, candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance, depending on the terms of the applicable plan and the employee’s role.
