About the Role
The Systems Administrator & IT Support is a hands-on technician responsible for the full lifecycle of end-user support, systems administration, and day-to-day IT operations. This role owns the help desk function, resolves complex technical issues, supports infrastructure and cloud services, and serves as the Senior IT Manager’s right-hand partner in maintaining a secure, reliable, and well-documented technology environment. The ideal candidate brings 5–10 years of progressive IT experience across user support, networking, Windows Server, VMware, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the help desk function, including ticket intake, triage, prioritization, escalation, resolution, follow-up, reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Provide advanced support for employees across onsite, hybrid, and remote environments, including Windows, macOS, Microsoft 365, mobile devices, printers, peripherals, collaboration tools, and line-of-business applications.
- Administer and support Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, permissions, and related infrastructure services.
- Support Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, Microsoft 365 administration, identity management, user lifecycle management, access control, and security best practices.
- Support VMware and virtualized server environments, including monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination with vendors or service providers as needed.
- Assist with networking operations, including LAN/WAN troubleshooting, switching, wireless, VPN connectivity, firewall coordination, and general network reliability.
- Support storage and backup-related operations, including Storage Area Networking concepts, capacity awareness, restore coordination, and system availability.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding workflows, ensuring timely provisioning, deprovisioning, equipment preparation, account access, and documentation.
- Maintain accurate IT asset inventory for laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers, copiers, IP phones, accessories, software licenses, and related equipment.
- Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, knowledge base articles, diagrams, and user-facing instructions.
- Assist with cybersecurity initiatives, including endpoint protection, security awareness tools, access reviews, patching, vulnerability remediation, and secure configuration practices.
- Coordinate with software, hardware, telecom, and managed service vendors to resolve issues, evaluate solutions, and support IT projects.
- Participate in infrastructure projects, migrations, hardware refreshes, software deployments, system upgrades, office moves, and process improvements.
- Serve as a trusted partner to the Senior IT Manager by helping manage daily IT operations, anticipating issues, recommending improvements, and taking ownership of assigned initiatives.
Qualifications
- Required 5–10 years of progressive IT experience in help desk, desktop support, systems administration, infrastructure support, or a related technology role.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows endpoints, macOS, mobile devices, printers, Microsoft 365, collaboration tools, and business applications.
- Hands-on experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file permissions, and account lifecycle management.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, Microsoft 365 administration, identity and access management, conditional access concepts, and cloud-based administration.
- Experience supporting VMware or similar virtualization platforms, including virtual machines, snapshots, resource monitoring, and basic troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless, VPN, LAN/WAN connectivity, and firewall coordination.
- Familiarity with Storage Area Networking, backup concepts, disaster recovery principles, and infrastructure availability practices.
- Ability to write clear technical documentation, SOPs, process guides, ticket notes, and end-user instructions.
- Strong customer service mindset with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, manage competing requests, take ownership, and follow issues through to completion.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA, VMware, Cisco, ITIL, or Azure certifications are preferred but not required.
