Volunteer Web Designer – Social Impact Startup

We are building an social friendship platform dedicated to getting people off their screens and into real-world local meetups. As we prepare for our mobile app's hard launch, we are looking for a passionate Volunteer Digital/Web Designer to help us revamp our website to match our core mission: helping people "touch grass".

The Role & Responsibilities

Our current website talks a lot about technical features, but we need our new design to tell a relatable story about community and belonging. We are looking for a digital designer to translate our recent marketing strategy into a compelling website that creates FOMO by showing people already living their best lives offline. Your work will directly encourage users to stop doomscrolling, overcome comparison, and instead "Find Your Tribe".

• Redesign the Narrative: Shift our website's focus from clinical tech features to a warm, benefit-led experience.
• Create Engaging UI Elements: Design a 5-step "How it works" strip that mirrors our actual product screens to build credibility and reduce friction. *** Curate Lifestyle Imagery**: Select and integrate diverse imagery showing various "tribes" (such as creative, gaming-to-IRL, fitness, and food groups) so all visitors can see themselves in the community.
• Integrate Trust Signals: Design a compact trust and safety strip highlighting our commitment to no tracking, no data selling, and encryption, positioning these as supporting proof lower on the page.

Required & Preferred Skills

• Required: Proven experience in web design, UI/UX, or digital design, with a strong portfolio showcasing consumer-facing landing pages.
• Required: Strong understanding of color theory and visual hierarchy, specifically in balancing vibrant primary colors with muted supporting tones.
• Required: Ability to translate high-level marketing strategies and problem-solution arcs into tangible web designs.
• Required: Proficiency in modern design tools like Figma or Adobe Creative Suite.
• Preferred: Experience working with early-stage tech startups, particularly in the social media or community-building space.
• Preferred: A keen eye for curating diverse, authentic lifestyle photography that drives user engagement.
• Preferred: Familiarity with designing for mobile-first web experiences, as the main goal of the site is to drive app store downloads.
