About the job
Job Role: Linux Desktop Engineer
Location : Toronto, ON/Hybrid
Position Type : Contract Role
6-12 months initially. Potential for Contract-to-Hire
Ideal Candidate Rate: CAD 85-95/Hr (Depending on the experience)
Must Have:
- Demonstrated enterprise Linux desktop engineering experience, with strong hands-on Ubuntu administration.
- Direct experience supporting Linux developer workstations and high-performance endpoint hardware.
- Hands-on experience with HCL BigFix administration, software packaging, automated deployment, and patch management.
- Experience deploying or supporting Zscaler, CrowdStrike, and ThreatLocker in managed endpoint environments.
- Strong Docker, containerization, virtualization, GPU, and developer-toolchain support experience.
- Automation and scripting experience using Bash and Python.
- Advanced networking knowledge, including troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, VPN, proxy, routing, firewall, and endpoint-connectivity issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting AI or machine-learning development environments and associated runtimes.
- Familiarity with Dell, HP, and Lenovo workstation platforms, with HP hardware familiarity, is considered an advantage.
- Experience supporting globally distributed engineering teams in a large enterprise environment.
- Exposure to DevOps platforms, CI/CD processes, and developer-productivity tooling.
