Senior Full-Stack Engineer — Contract

EkTech is building software for public-agency property accountability and inventory workflows. We have a working Flutter proof of concept and are looking for a senior full-stack contractor to help turn it into a production-ready MVP.

This is a backend-heavy full-stack role. You would work across the client, backend, database, synchronization, security, and deployment.

Compensation is listed as $180,000–$220,000 annualized and will be prorated based on the contractor’s agreed hours and duration of engagement.

What you would work on

1. Review and refine the existing application architecture
2. Establish backend structure and development conventions
3. Build and integrate REST APIs with the Flutter client
4. Design reliable relational data models and transactional workflows
5. Implement offline synchronization and conflict handling
6. Build authentication and authorization
7. Support secure file and image workflows
8. Design for separation between operational workloads and reporting/query workloads
9. Build integrations with external data sources
10. Write automated tests and improve reliability
11. Support deployment, logging, backups, observability, and production hardening
12. Review code and help establish patterns the founding team can extend safely

What we are looking for

1. 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
2. Strong full-stack experience with significant backend depth
3. Strong SQL and relational-database experience
4. Experience with Kotlin, Java, or Rust
5. Experience building production APIs
6. Mobile-development experience; Flutter/Dart is preferred
7. Experience with offline or intermittently connected systems
8. Experience with authentication, authorization, and security-sensitive applications
9. Experience deploying cloud applications
10. Comfortable owning difficult technical problems and reviewing other developers’ work
11. Engagement

Remote, U.S.-based contract role. We are open to hourly or milestone-based work.

The founding team expects to handle a meaningful portion of routine implementation. We are looking for someone who can own the harder technical problems, establish strong patterns, and help us get to a reliable MVP.
