About the job

Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead

Location: Remote (US or Canada based)

Reports to: CTO

Compensation: $125,000–$175,000, plus benefits

About the Role

Claros Analytics is a growing software company looking for a Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead to help drive the architecture and evolution of our product. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who wants real ownership: you'll work directly with our CTO and senior engineer to shape technical direction, dig into hard problems across the stack, and provide leadership and mentorship to our offshore engineering and QA team based in Kathmandu, Nepal.

We've also built AI directly into how our team works day to day — our engineers use Claude as part of the development process — and we're actively exploring how AI capabilities can be built into our own product going forward. This role will have a voice in that direction.

If you're looking for a role where your architectural decisions matter, where you can build real relationships with a talented distributed team, and where you'll have a direct line to leadership rather than being buried in process — this is that role.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with our CTO and senior engineer to define technical direction and architecture for our product as it scales.
  • Take a leadership role with our offshore engineering and QA team — providing technical guidance, code/design review, and mentorship.
  • Design, develop, and maintain both front-end (React, TypeScript, HTML/CSS) and back-end (SQL Server, related technologies) systems.
  • Architect scalable SQL Server databases — schema design, in-memory optimization, complex T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and execution plan tuning.
  • Develop and consume RESTful APIs and microservices to connect front-end and back-end systems cleanly.
  • Drive technical design decisions for new features and product evolution, balancing speed with long-term maintainability.
  • Identify and help prioritize technical debt alongside new feature work.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation, and implement unit/integration tests to keep code quality and reliability high.
  • Use AI tools (including Claude) as part of your own development workflow, and help evaluate where AI can be built directly into our product.

What We're Looking For

Must-haves

  • Based in the US or Canada.
  • 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including systems/architecture-level design work.
  • Strong SQL Server skills — T-SQL, stored procedures, schema/data modeling, and performance tuning in production environments.
  • Solid front-end experience with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern front-end tooling (Git, Agile/Scrum, build tools like Webpack).
  • Comfortable stepping into a technical leadership role — reviewing code, setting direction, and mentoring other engineers, including team members based offshore.
  • Strong communicator — able to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with distributed or cross-timezone teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • .NET / C# experience.
  • Cloud experience, particularly Azure.
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude, Copilot) as part of a professional development workflow.
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring offshore/distributed engineering teams specifically.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., solutions architect) — a plus, not a requirement.

Why Claros Analytics

  • Small, growing company — your work has visible, direct impact on the product and the business.
  • Direct collaboration with the CTO and senior leadership, not layers of process.
  • A genuine leadership opportunity: shape both the architecture and the team.
  • Remote-first, with occasional travel for key meetings or team visits.

To apply, please upload your resume and a brief note on a system you've architected or significantly improved, or email both to [email protected]
