We are building this technology alongside active creator-led media businesses, giving the team the opportunity to develop and test new AI capabilities against real audiences, content and commercial use cases.

Our next phase of growth is focused on combining creators, AI and performance intelligence into a new technology-enabled advertising capability.

The Opportunity

Hard Carry Media is building a new AI-native platform at the intersection of creators, generative media and performance advertising, and we are looking for the founding technical leader to architect and build it.

This is a true zero-to-one opportunity. You will define the technical architecture, select the underlying technologies, build the first production system and ultimately build the engineering team around it.

The goal is to create an intelligent platform that uses agentic AI, generative media and real-time performance data to make creator advertising dramatically more scalable, measurable and effective.

You will have significant ownership over both what we build and how we build it.

What You'll Build

You will architect a platform that can:

• Translate advertiser objectives into intelligent campaign workflows
• Match campaigns with the creators most likely to perform
• Orchestrate generative video, voice and digital-human technologies
• Create and manage individualized creative workflows at scale
• Incorporate creator permissions, brand requirements and human approvals
• Ingest organic and paid-media performance data
• Identify winning creators, creative concepts and executions
• Recommend and generate new creative variations based on performance
• Improve creator selection and creative decision-making as the system accumulates data

Over time, the goal is to build a proprietary intelligence layer that becomes smarter with every campaign.

What You'll Own

• Define HCM's AI architecture and technical roadmap
• Determine what should be built internally versus licensed or integrated
• Personally build and ship the first working version of the platform
• Design agentic workflows, orchestration, tool use, memory and state
• Integrate leading LLMs, generative-media technologies and third-party platforms
• Build the data infrastructure connecting creators, campaigns, creative and performance
• Establish evaluation, monitoring, reliability, security and human-in-the-loop controls
• Work directly with leadership, media and creative teams to turn business needs into scalable technology
• Recruit and lead the engineering team as the platform grows

This is not a strategy-only or people-management role. We are looking for someone who wants to architect the system and personally help build the first version.

What We're Looking For

• Significant software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production products
• Deep hands-on experience building modern generative AI and LLM applications
• Experience developing agentic systems involving orchestration, tool calling and external APIs
• Strong Python and backend engineering skills
• Experience designing reliable, observable and secure production AI systems
• Strong understanding of experimentation, ranking, recommendation or optimization systems
• Experience building zero-to-one products in fast-moving environments
• Strong technical judgment, including knowing when AI is the right solution — and when it isn't
  

Particularly Relevant Experience

Experience in one or more of the following would be especially valuable:

• AI agents or multi-agent systems
• Generative video, voice or digital-human technology
• Advertising technology or performance marketing platforms
• Recommendation or matching systems
• Creator or social platforms
• Marketplace businesses
• AI-native startups
• Large-scale experimentation and optimization systems

Experience in media, entertainment or influencer marketing is not required.

Compensation

$200K+ based on experience.
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Los Angeles.
