About the job
Lanart Rug Inc. — Montréal or Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec
Full-time, permanent | In person at either office
Compensation: C$100,000–C$150,000 annual base salary plus formula-based participation in incremental net sales and eligible profit attributable to an approved scope.
The mandate
Lanart is hiring a Chief of Staff to become the founder's right hand: a high-agency operator who turns priorities into action, keeps important work moving across the company and steps into whatever problem matters most.
This is not a conventional personal-assistant role and it is not a passive strategy position. You will combine executive leverage, cross-functional execution, analytical problem-solving, special-project ownership and selective hands-on support for the founder. One week may involve driving a commercial initiative or operating review; the next may involve recruiting coordination, a supplier escalation, a launch plan, a decision brief or complicated travel and meeting logistics.
The environment is fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous. You should be comfortable creating structure where none exists, getting into details and closing loops without waiting for perfect instructions.
This is a full-time, in-person role based at either the Montréal or Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu office, with collaboration at the other office when the work requires it. Most work occurs during business hours, with occasional early, late or time-sensitive periods. Lanart will respect applicable employment standards and overtime requirements.
What you will own
- Translate the founder's priorities into clear workstreams, owners, deadlines and decision points.
- Drive cross-functional follow-through across commercial, e-commerce, brand, product, operations, technology and finance work.
- Prepare concise decision briefs, operating reviews, dashboards, meeting agendas and action records.
- Own selected strategic and operational projects from problem definition through implementation and measurable outcome.
- Surface risks, missing decisions and stalled commitments early, then propose practical resolutions.
- Coordinate important meetings, recruiting processes, partners, vendors, travel and time-sensitive logistics when doing so creates founder leverage.
- Build lightweight operating systems using Google Workspace, spreadsheets, AI tools and automation while protecting confidential information.
- Represent the founder's priorities accurately without overstepping delegated authority.
- Handle sensitive company and personal information with excellent judgment and discretion.
What strong performance looks like
- The founder spends more time on the highest-leverage decisions and less time chasing follow-ups.
- Important commitments have a clear owner, next action and deadline.
- Decisions arrive with the necessary facts, tradeoffs and recommendation.
- Cross-functional initiatives move faster and produce measurable commercial or operational results.
- Problems are surfaced early, and routine issues are resolved without unnecessary escalation.
- Systems become more reliable instead of depending on memory or heroic effort.
What you bring
- Evidence of owning ambiguous, cross-functional work and delivering measurable results.
- Strong analytical ability and comfort with business metrics, spreadsheets and imperfect data.
- Excellent written communication and the ability to turn complexity into a concise decision brief.
- High judgment, discretion and reliability with confidential information and delegated authority.
- A hands-on operating style: you can think strategically, but you also build the tracker, make the call and close the loop.
- Practical AI literacy and experience using automation or modern tools to increase execution speed, with appropriate verification and privacy controls.
- Authorization to work in Canada and the ability to work full-time in person from either the Montréal or Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu office, with collaboration at the other office as needed.
English is required because the role regularly works with English-language systems, communications and partners. French is strongly valued.
Compensation
The annual base-salary range is C$100,000–C$150,000, depending on evidence, experience and final scope. The role is also intended to participate in a written, formula-based incentive tied to incremental net sales and eligible profit within an approved scope. Final baselines, attribution rules, percentages, payment timing, caps, exclusions and clawbacks will be defined before any offer and are not promised by this posting.
How to apply
Please send a concise application answering these questions:
- Describe the most ambiguous cross-functional initiative you personally drove. What was the baseline, what did you do and what changed?
- Give an example of turning a founder's or executive's loosely defined priority into a reliable operating plan.
- Describe a time you had to challenge or redirect a senior leader. How did you handle it?
- Which business metrics would you use to determine whether your work was creating leverage or merely activity?
- Which AI, automation and productivity tools do you use, and how do you verify their output and protect confidential information?
- Can you work full-time in person from either Montréal or Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, collaborate at the other office as needed and work legally in Canada? Which office would be your base?
- Are your expectations compatible with the C$100,000–C$150,000 base range plus a formula-based growth/profit incentive, and what is your earliest realistic start date?
Lanart evaluates candidates using job-related evidence and demonstrated results. We welcome qualified applicants from all backgrounds and will provide reasonable accommodation during the hiring process.
