Role: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer - Aircraft
Responsibilities
- Design aircraft primary and secondary structures using 3D CAD, ensuring compliance with military and commercial standards.
- Develop detailed technical drawings, procedures, and documentation throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to manufacturing and installation.
- Collaborate with production teams, interpret engineering designs, and support customer change requests and new pursuits.
- Conduct design reviews, liaise with peers, management, and customers, and ensure designs meet specifications.
- Work in aircraft environments and support modifications to both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
- Possess strong knowledge of aircraft structural principles, and communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Manage budgets, schedules, and mentor junior team members as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering with extensive related experience.
- Minimum 4 years in aircraft structural design and modifications.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Creo, Siemens NX or equivalent) and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
- Knowledge of aerospace and military design standards.
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, and mentoring team members.
Note: Must be able to work onsite, climb/board aircraft, and work in confined spaces. Willingness to travel and work flexible hours is required.
