Lead Developer / Technical Partner

KaiWise is a New Zealand-built food-tech app making it easier for everyday people to understand what’s really in their food.

We’ve already built and launched the product, grown to tens of thousands of users across New Zealand and Australia, and proven there’s strong interest in making food information simpler and easier to understand.

Now we’re looking for the right Technical Co-Founder to join us and help build the next stage of KaiWise.

The opportunity

We’re not looking for an employee or a development agency. We’re looking for someone who wants to become part of KaiWise, take ownership of the technical side of the product, and share in what we build together.

Rather than a traditional high-salary developer role, we’re looking to structure this around meaningful equity and long-term partnership, with the exact arrangement discussed with the right person.

You’d be joining an existing business with a live product, established user base, brand, marketing capability and clear opportunities for further growth.

What you’d own

• Lead the technical direction of KaiWise
• Take ownership of our existing app and codebase
• Maintain, improve and develop new features
• Help shape the product roadmap alongside the wider team
• Improve performance, reliability and scalability as we grow
• Bring a technical perspective to wider business and product decisions

Who we’re looking for

You could be a senior developer, technical lead or experienced builder who wants to put your skills into something you can have genuine ownership in.

More than anything, we’re looking for someone who is entrepreneurial, commercially minded, communicates well and believes in what KaiWise is trying to achieve.

You don’t need to be based in New Zealand, but being able to work effectively with our NZ-based team is important.
