About the job
Byteport moves data fast, at speeds that used to be reserved for companies with a Netflix-sized stack.
Our CEO, Jayram Palamadai, built data infrastructure at Netflix, then moved 30 petabytes from the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Now we’re bringing that kind of speed to everyone else.
The two biggest independent object stores already run Byteport. Hundreds of terabytes. One line of code.
We’re a handful of people living and working out of a four-story house in Hayes Valley. We work hard. We play hard. Here are a few things you can expect:
- Poker Fridays
- A sim racing wheel
- Halo
You’d write code. Own the protocol. Automate anything that shouldn’t be done twice. Make us look like we know what we’re doing. Play games. You don’t need to be managed.
you’d be a fit if you:
- have built production APIs or SDKs
- understand object storage and distributed systems
- can debug latency, packet loss, and performance bottlenecks
- know how to benchmark and ship systems that move a lot of data
- can own work from protocol internals through customer integrations
we use claude and vs code a lot. you should know how to use ai to move faster and when to ignore it.
If you want a twelve-bullet job description, this isn’t it.
If you’re a cracked SWE and this sounds fun, say hi 👋🏻
