About the job
Founder’s Associate Intern — Technology, Research & Venture Building
Most of what we try won't work. That's frustrating. But some of it will—and that's why we're here.
This is not a traditional internship, and there is no roadmap; we build it every day.
I’m looking for one or two unusually bright, curious, resourceful students who want to work directly with an experienced entrepreneur building and experimenting across several early- to mid-stage ventures.
We will work on real problems at the intersection of technology, business, data, and human behavior.
How We Work
For most projects, the only two things we know with certainty are A) where we are and B) where we're going.
Everything in between has to be discovered.
We'll build that roadmap together. It will change as we learn. Some ideas will work. Most won't. We will make mistakes, encounter dead ends, have false starts, and occasionally discover that we were asking the wrong questions.
That's not a failure of the process; that is the process.**
What You Might Work On
Your work could include:
- Building and iterating on apps, websites, prototypes, and internal tools.
- Using AI and emerging technologies to build things that would previously have required much larger teams.
- Researching technologies and figuring out how we can actually use them.
- Collecting, organizing, evaluating, and interpreting data.
- Developing and testing user-acquisition strategies.
- Studying user behavior and figuring out why people do—or don't—use a product.
- Researching markets, competitors, companies, technologies, and people.
- Testing business models and new venture concepts.
- Turning loosely defined ideas into experiments we can actually run.
- Measuring what happened, figuring out what we learned, and deciding what to do next.
You don't have to be a computer science major or an accomplished developer. But you should be technologically fearless.
That you don't know how to do all of these things is fine. But learning has to make your heart race.
The Mission
We are mission-driven.
We're interested in creating businesses and technologies that improve the ecosystems we live in—the communities, institutions, and environments that shape people's everyday lives.
We believe useful, sustainable businesses can create meaningful positive change.
We care about building things that matter.
We will do well by doing good.
Who I'm Looking For
Your major doesn't matter—your mind does.
The right person has read this far and is already excited.
You can say “I don't know” without embarrassment—and already be thinking about how you're going to figure it out.
What You'll Get
You'll work directly with the founder, not through layers of management.
I expect to teach you. I also expect you to teach me things.
You'll see projects while they're still messy: before the deck, before the polished product, and sometimes before we're even certain what the product should be.
You'll participate in the thinking, experimentation, building, measurement, mistakes, course corrections, and decisions that turn an idea into something real.
The better you become, the more responsibility you'll get.
Approximately 10 hours per week, with flexibility around your academic schedule. Remote.
You will have frictionless access to me.
Applying
Send your résumé, but make it short—just the basics.
Don't send a cover letter. We both know AI wrote it, and there is zero chance I will read it.
Instead, write one short paragraph about something you taught yourself or a problem you attempted to solve without anyone asking you to.
It doesn't matter whether you succeeded. I'm interested in how you approached it, what happened, and what you learned.
If you've gotten this far, I'm really looking forward to meeting you.
