About the job
Vettor is building a fantasy sports marketplace where users can buy positions in player performance based on implied probability.
We’re looking for a technical co-founder / founding engineer to take Vettor from prototype and product concept into a production-ready launch.
This is a true founding role. You would work directly with the founder and own the technical build, architecture, infrastructure and launch.
Important: this is currently an equity-only opportunity. There is no salary or cash compensation until Vettor raises sufficient outside funding.
Phase 1
The first release is intentionally focused:
NFL only
Sunday main slate
Passing Yards only
Buy and hold through settlement
No selling in Phase 1
Manual player/pricing uploads through admin
Real-money play in approved states using Pay with SOAP for KYC, geolocation, payments, deposits and withdrawals
Free-to-play in other supported states using Vettor Tokens
Wallet/ledger, portfolio, settlement and admin/exposure controls
Mobile-first responsive web app
The goal is to get a reliable product into users’ hands quickly, prove the core mechanic and use early traction to support fundraising.
Phase 2
Once Phase 1 is live and funding/data access expands, the platform can evolve into:
SportsDataIO integration
Baker simulation probabilities
Automated pricing
Prices updating before and during games
Selling / live trading
Automated settlement
Additional sports, including MLB and NBA Playoffs
The Phase 1 architecture should support this evolution without requiring a full rebuild.
What You Would Own
Technical architecture
Frontend and backend
Database and data model
Authentication
Wallet and transaction ledger
Player/pricing ingestion
Share purchasing and fractional ownership
Settlement logic
Pay with SOAP integration
Admin tools
Exposure/risk controls
Deployment and infrastructure
Monitoring, reliability and security
Technical roadmap and future engineering hiring
Ideal Background
Strong full-stack engineering experience
React / Next.js / TypeScript
Node.js, Python or similar backend experience
PostgreSQL or comparable relational database experience
API integrations
Payments, wallets, ledgers, fintech or transaction systems are a major plus
Experience independently shipping production products
Comfortable making architecture decisions without a large engineering team
Comfortable operating in an ambiguous, early-stage environment
Interest in sports, fantasy sports, gaming, fintech, trading or marketplaces is a plus
Experience using AI development tools to accelerate delivery is helpful
What We Want to See From Applicants
Please include a short note covering:
Why an equity-only founding role is interesting to you
Whether you are comfortable with no cash compensation until funding
A product you personally built or owned end-to-end
Your preferred stack for this project and why
How you would approach wallet/ledger and settlement reliability
Links to GitHub, LinkedIn, portfolio or relevant products
Any prior experience with payments, real-time systems, sports data or marketplaces
We care much more about ownership, judgment and execution than credentials alone.
Equity and Long-Term Opportunity
This is an equity-first opportunity offering 2% to 5% ownership, depending on experience, commitment and scope of technical responsibility.
Vettor is currently pre-launch and pre-revenue. The goal is to launch Phase 1, generate traction, raise capital and then revisit cash compensation and the broader long-term technical leadership structure.
There is a path for the right person to grow into Vettor’s long-term technical leader / CTO.
