Our startup is dedicated to empowering young people with digital skills, mentorship, and career guidance to help them secure meaningful employment. We also support aspiring entrepreneurs by providing technology solutions and digital resources to help them build and grow their businesses, even without access to capital or technical expertise.

What You'll Do

As our Principal Front End Mobile Engineer (React Native), you will:

• Lead the design and development of our cross-platform mobile applications using React Native.
• Architect scalable, maintainable, and high-performance mobile solutions.
• Collaborate with backend engineers, UI/UX designers, product managers, and other volunteers to deliver impactful features.
• Establish and promote front-end engineering best practices, coding standards, and performance optimization.
• Review code, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior developers.
• Contribute to technical planning, product discussions, and feature prioritization.
• Help ensure an excellent, accessible, and intuitive user experience across Android and iOS platforms.
• Participate in testing, debugging, and continuous improvement of the application.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with:

• Strong experience with React Native and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Solid understanding of React, Hooks, state management (Redux, Context API, or similar).
• Experience integrating REST APIs and third-party services.
• Knowledge of mobile UI/UX principles and responsive design.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Familiarity with mobile performance optimization and debugging.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience mentoring developers or leading engineering teams is highly desirable.
• Passion for social impact and building technology that serves communities.

Commitment

• Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per week for 6 months.
• Location: Remote.
• Meetings: Availability to attend scheduled team meetings during overlapping working hours in WAT (UTC+1) and CET (UTC+2 during daylight saving / UTC+1 otherwise) is preferred.
• Tools: We primarily collaborate using Discord for communication and the Microsoft ecosystem (Microsoft Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, and related productivity tools) for meetings, documentation, and project collaboration.
