The Senior Quality Engineer will help develop and improve our manufacturing processes and assist in implementing the quality policies and systems. The position shall be responsible for process design and implementation for new products and continuous improvement opportunities, improving industrial processes to maintain efficiency, reducing cost, improving sustainability, and maximizing profitability. The position will also lead and facilitate the implementation of quality initiatives and their continual improvement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations and quality requirements.
- Manage all quality-related issues within the Business Unit team. (e.g., internal, customer, and customer warranty)
- Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection.
- Responsible for ensuring that the products produced meet quality standards required to minimize quality costs (COPQ) and maximize customer satisfaction while ensuring procedures and processes are followed.
- Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents, and reports.
- Create, revise, and improve quality standards, procedures, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, and documents.
- Ensure compliance with the Quality Management systems and regulations. (ISO9001/AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP, FAA)
- Participate in or lead the Quality Clinic / MRB activities.
- Report to management on quality issues, trends, and scrap.
- Create, monitor, and manage the implementation and completion of CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Action).
- Provide and present various RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) reports to customers.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Participate in training as required.
- Conduct training as required.
- Analyze internal and customer NCs to find root causes and implement CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
- Lead the cross-functional teams for root cause investigation and write reports as needed.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident alien, or otherwise able to review all export–controlled technical information.
- Up to 15% travel (domestic and/or international) as necessary.
- Performs other activities, projects, or tasks assigned by leadership with minimal supervision.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with external customers.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Self-manage workload: priorities, multiple tasks, and easily adapt to changing situations.
- Thorough knowledge of process improvement methods and techniques, such as Lean and Six Sigma.
- Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Problem-solving skills using methodical and systematic approaches.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Highly proficient with the various MS Office programs.
- Working knowledge of statistical software packages such as MINITAB.
- Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control.
- Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, and documentation.
- Solid organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and instruction skills.
- Ability to directly communicate with customers and team members in formal/informal environments.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline. Professional-level experience may substitute for the degree as appropriate.
- Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment and/or equivalent
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably welding and/or brazing.
- Demonstrated understanding of project management and/or process improvement methodologies, preferably in the aerospace industry.
- Agile and inquisitive thinker; interested in learning and applying new technologies and methodologies.
- Fluent with various Microsoft Office tools.
- Aerospace industry experience preferred.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- A typical office environment, with controlled temperatures.
- May be exposed to routine noise from the manufacturing plant floor.
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift at least 15 lbs., unaided.
- Must be able to sit, stand, reach, bend, and grasp equipment, tools, or inventory.
- Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary when working in areas on the manufacturing plant floor.
This position requires either a US Person (as defined in applicable export regulations) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain the required export authorization.
